    @rjbasenji - this is the time to align with a responsible breeder for a pup maybe in 2021. Because Basenjis only come in season once a year and their litter size is only 4-6 puppies, it is difficult to find one especially will all the people that "want" one... If you can visit with a breeder that would help you or if not call them on the phone and tell them why you think that a Basenji would be a good fit for your family/lifestyle.

    @venserro - Please be sure to check out pedigrees and also health testing, you should always check that out for yourself... I always refer anyone interested in Basenjis, including my own breed to Ofa.org to review DNA testing... you can look for responsible breeders at www.basenji.org and you would be better looking at the Pacific Northwest...pleaseask for references and for sure health testing. +

    You can search for breeders by state at www.basenji.org. Also you can find the link to the breeder liaison. This is the best way to find a responsible breeder. You can use this link to learn how to find a responsible breeder and what questions to ask. https://www.basenji.org/learn/ScreeningBreeders.htm You should always get health testing details and check out those results for yourself...just don't take someone's word on it....

There is also a link on how to "vet" breeders, question you should ask. https://www.basenji.org/learn/ScreeningBreeders.htm Also check out health testing yourself. You need to have the registration numbers and/or registration name and you can check at www.ofa.org Here is the link for questions to ask breeders.     Yes, I am considering :) I already filled out the forms for basenjirescue.org After talking with my family, we're willing to take a rescue pup from from last winter, hopefully I'l get a reply soon.
