    Hello, introductory post for me. My wife and I presently have two male Basenjis, both red and whites. They are, Ramses who is now 16-1/2 years old now and Arthur who is 12-1/2 years. Both in good health despite their ages. We have had them both since they were about a year old back when we lived in Ohio. They are rescue basenjis and have done very well. We have recently relocated to New Mexico just north of Albuquerque and the dogs are loving the heat this time of year. Very little adjustment issues to the high elevations here. Anyway...hello!     Admittedly Basenjis and sheep are a problem. Thank you for such friendly welcomes. I have had some Basenjis who I did eventually manage to 'train'!!? to be safe with sheep and could wander among them and occasionally help to herd, others (including my current pack are killers and can't be left to wander freely where the sheep are. We have a double gate system for visitors. There was a time when I could have taken them all out for walks together but now I take them 3 at a time and my whole day is taken up with exercising dogs. When I get the hang of my digital camera I'll post some piccies. Nomrdggs - I'm not sure I have kept my sanity!!!! Tanza - I have actually seen some of our original imports - and I have attempted to breed as close to the original type as I can. I bred my last litter 4 years ago.

    Thank you for your reply Seko. Bandit is 11 weeks this Wednesday 6th Sept. When he turns around bearing his teeth and growling after being told off for being naughty, I point my finger at him saying a LOUD NO!! He doesn't like it, puts his ears back and looks at me. I have bought a clicker and will attempt to train him and my Lowchen "Alfie" together with liver treats. Wish me luck!! Angee
