Raising awareness abour proper pet care

Basenji Health Issues & Questions
  • Hi everyone, I was not sure where to post this, so, sorry, if this is not the most appropriate place. I am working with friends on a project to help improve lives and lower the abandonment rate of dogs. It's called Edumal (EDUcating our aniMALs) and was inspired by the rescue dog Magu. Can you help us with our information collecting? We have a short 7 question survey. You will receive a 20% voucher for online dog training through our project website, EduMal.tv
    Every little bit counts!

Okay, so you have a few options. The best is training him to go where you want. 1. Take some of his poop and put it further in where you want him to go. 2. Match stick him. 3. Spray the area with tick and flea spray. 4. Add some olive oil or, honest, catlax (the stuff they use for hair balls) to his food so he has a bit looser stool or ask your vet for stool softeners for dogs. I'd call my vet tech partner but she is in India with her husband. But I can guarantee you that human laxatives are a no. Plus, you can't keep using any of them or risk habit forming. http://www.vetinfo.com/dog-laxative-guide.html

@smharr4: I also have a Care Credit card (http://www.carecredit.com/) which will allow me to pay the bill at the vet immediately, then I can just transfer the money between bank accounts (which takes a few days) so the Care Credit card is payed off before any interest accrues. At least one of our local vets also has a 'promissory note' payment scheme where you pay half when you pick up your pet then spreads the rest out over 3-4 months, that can come in handy too sometimes. Thanks for the tip. I will ask my vet if he has any 'promissory note' scheme. That sounds good, and…yes it would come in handy!

Shelley - I'll be your first customer when you develop the safety pack!! Joking apart, I've not seen RSPCA advertising this.

We use PetCare Insurance & considering how many times I've been to the Vet this year with one dog alone  I think it's SO worth it :) I also think that if (heavens forbid) your dog ever got into a serious injury that required surgery or long term care that would be insanely expensive. And most people would opt not to go through with it at the risk of losing their beloved dog. Like most insurance policies you're paying a premium for the potential possibilities that you'll need it one day…life insurance (I've been paying forever & every year I neve cash in LOL :D), medical insurance, homeowners insurance...etc.
