OH/PA-Lisbon-Young Female Basenji/Pharoah Hound Mix-In Shelter-URGENT

Basenji Rescue
  • I e-mailed the shelter and she is still there. Here is what the shelter said about her: "She is approximately 10 months old and weighs 27 lbs. She likes everybody she has met so far-dogs and people." I figure she will probably not grow much bigger-just fill out.

I have been told that this is a high kill rural shelter. It is located approximately 35 miles east of Canton, OH, 30 miles south of Youngstown, OH and 60 miles northwest of Pittsburgh, PA. Please contact the shelter if you are interested!

    Here is her Petfinder page:

  • She's very cute! Is it just me or does she look like a podengo?

  • I just noticed this ad on Craigslist. "Tabby" is a pretty red and white girl. Looks almost like a regular basenji, but with HUGE ears. She's at the Columbiana County Dog Pound in Ohio.

  • OMG did you read the note that she was scheduled to be put down last Wednesday. I hope someone picked her up. I have been having a very hard day and to read that brought tears to my eyes.

  • She is now fully sponsored to any rescue that takes her! I assume this means the $100 adoption fee is covered which includes her spay and vetting!

If anyone knows a rescue that could take her, please let them know!

Here is the information which is now on her Petfinder page:

UPDATETABBY HAS RECEIVED A FULL "PAY IT FORWARD" SPONSORSHIP TO ANY APPROVED RESCUE THANKS TO HENLEY WHO FINALLY FOUND HIS FOREVER HOME WHO RECEIVED HIS PAY IT FORWARD FROM ANTOINETTE! AWESOME ISN'T IT?!

I'm sure this has already been forwarded to basenjirescue.org but I sent it again just in case as well as posted this on their Facebook page. Hopefully someone can help this guy out. I can help with transport if needed. :-)

I saw this girl listed again on Craigslist by the rescue group. If you know anyone interested in a young B mix in the TX area, please let them know about this girl. It states no cats but she is good with school aged children! Only $125 for adoption. Here is her Adopt-A-Pet page: http://www.adoptapet.com/pet7480878.html Jennifer

I guess for some people he is too large for a Chi and not quite a Basenji-too small as he weighs 15 lbs. He is estimated to be 5 years old. If you know someone who might be interested in him or a rescue group that could take him, please forward the information. This boy is listed on Craigslist as urgent and here is his information and the link: http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/pet/2772364788.html "CODY" needs a second chance. He is a male, Chihuahua / Basenji Mix. He has been at the Van Nuys shelter since OCTOBER 15, 2011. Because "CODY" has been at the shelter so long he is running out of time. Due to the shelter running over capacity he will be euthanized soon if he does not get adopted. Please if you are looking for a dog consider adopting "CODY" and giving him a second chance. He is at the East Valley Shelter in Van Nuys. To see a photo and get additional information please see the link below. http://www.petharbor.com/pet.asp?uaid=LACT.A1257520 Jennifer

@dcmclcm4: Since she was found as a stray, no knowledge if she has been around children. When she gets overly excited to see someone she can be mouthy since she is still young so probably no real young children. I get her to sit, direct her focus away from my hand and give her a nylabone chew toy. This usually works. She is learning how to sit with the hand signal for sit and almost has it learned. She is a fairly easy pill giver as she has not spit out a pill yet! She did a playbow today to the Bs to try to get them to play. My two middle Bs, Arnie-10 years old and Bambi-8 years old play with her. She can bark but is not overly barky. I feel she does need more socialization and I am planning on doing that this coming week when the weather is better. If you need additional information or have specific questons about her, let me know. Jennifer I will Jennifer, my friend is seriously considering it :)
