Sadly im looking for a good home for my basengi mix

Member Introductions
  • i am sadly unable to give my basengi terrier mix dog the time he deserves. i refuse to give him away to just anyone, he is a great dog, so i keep him. if anyone knows of a loving, permanent home for him id like to find a good home for him. i went from having a teenager to now 3 and one more on the way and the poor dog gets no attention. he is fully trained, lovable and good with other non- agressive dogs. im having a hard time dealing with having to get rid of him, so im gonna be really picky, i just know he needs more attention and time we cant seem to find anymore. it seems like he is depressed, which makes me sad too! he is verry sensitive and smart, also truly loyal. we live in ohio. if anyone is interested sincerely and absolutely loves dogs let me know.
    thanks

  • List him with BRAT, they will help rehome Mixes.

  • Why can't the teens help out? Seems like good responsible character building. Sigh. Good luck on finding him a home.

Hi there. I would do some DNA testing on him. However, if you go to the Colorado Basenji Rescue website, there is a mix at the bottom of the page. There appears to be some similarities. You could also email Peggy of CBR with your photos and ask her. She has been working with Basenji and Basenji mixes for a long, long time.

Ok, I've added her as my profile pic - not sure how I post a photo in a reply though...

Welcome! I didn't see a photo, boo-hoo. Funny to think of a goth couple with a black and white basenji, they look very "Count Dracula" in some ways, especially with puppy teeth!

That was probably when they were giving people the opportunity to help with Bella's medical costs to have her severely broken leg fixed. I certainly appreciate all those who did including my daughter. Hmmmm, wonder if that was why she kept nudging me to meet Bella. She has a pin in her back leg but you could never tell it.

They are both fixed and I have had a behaviorist in who was helpful in many ways. Willie had developed dominance aggression and deffered (I think I spelled that wrong) aggression. His aggression only seemed to surface in response to the way Rosie picked on him - it all sort of snowballed and anytime we went away and left them with someone else (in the house) something big (and bad) would happen. Willie's aggression has really decreased. He's almost his old sweet self - we feel much better about his behavior. Rosie needs some more work as far as he's concerned, but she's a sweetie with us. We'll keep trying and we haven't given up hope yet!
