Basenji Rescue
  • This is a craigslist ad. There are 4 photos of her in the ad. It says there is an adoption fee for basenji rescue. Does anyone know what rescue it would be? It's not BRAT is it?

LEXIE is a very lovable dog for people. She is a black and white basenji about 7 years old. She wiggles her whole body with joy and excitement when she sees you and she likes to be touched and petted. SHE WANTS TO BE WITH PEOPLE. Unfortunately, she does not get along with other dogs.

She grew up with little kids though and gets along really good in that environment. Lexie is very energetic, friendly and likes to play and kiss you (just a little) and be by your side. She would do great as an "only dog" in a home with children. She does not have any cat experience so probably not a good idea. She is spayed and up to date on shots. There is a small adoption fee for basenji rescue.

  • The Local Nevada Basenji club advertises on Craig's list

  • Lexie - praying you find your forever home.

  • She is not a current BRAT rescue, as far as I can tell.
Is this a dilute blue basenji? Or is it just the photos?

  • She is though the local club rescue. The kid in the house became highly allergic(?) so the dog had to be removed. Lexie loves all people, but not dogs. We have her fostered with one of the club members.

  • Lexie is black and white, but shows some tri trates. Brown behind ears. DenisJean

My Maggii would have loved to be an only dog, while she got along fine with all the others, you just knew that she had in the back of her mind that she would have loved being the "Queen B"… And we lost our elders, except for Kristii, I was worried that she would miss the others as she was never an only dog.. but surprise to me she did just fine, save the deep from the soul howl every now and again....

I would have suggested the low cost spay/neuter clinic for the dam-only $65 and for the sire only $50 if both are under 30 lbs.! I am glad they were not taken to the shelter-high kill rates in Houston. Jennifer

I am guessing the young gal that bred multiple litters the last few years may be the breeder. All of my AK Bs are much older or tiny puppies now.

I am not sure if the SPCA even works with rescues but it would be good to give a contact in case she gets returned or if the new owners have any problems with her.

I wish I lived closer to this girl, I'd take her in a heartbeat - my house is probably too small though :(
