    Just a question though…

    Do you have the injectable heartworm medication available in either USA or the Dominican Republic ???

    We have it available here in Australia, its a yearly injection, marketed to those who are forgetful about the daily or monthly oral meds !!! It has had some bad press from quite a few people, who are having issues with it. Adverse reactions, and possible auto-immune issues, I think... I cant for the life of me think what they are though, (sorry mushed brain ATM !!!).

    Just curious ???

    They had deaths from it here in the 6 mo version (the australian one is 12 mos, same drug!), pulled it off the market.

    @lustopher You should not use Frontline as well as Drontal and Nexgard. I will phone my vet if you like to check. But I am sure he took me right off Frontline when he put the pack on to Nexgard. Drontal - three monthly - should not be given within 14 days of Nexgard. So wait a fortnight after a dose and then give it. That I am sure of ! It is written on the packets -

    I would never take a chance with heart worm... I use NuHeart that is just for heart worm... small pill once a month... we do not have issues with heart worm in NoCal but I do not take a chance. I use it year round. In the area that there is frost/frozen for the winter you can use it just in the spring/summer/fall months. For fleas/ticks I use frontline but only when I see fleas... again in NoCal not too much of an issue.. I need to use it maybe about twice a year and only when need or if I am traveling with the pups.

    I am so very sorry if I in any way bad you feel bad or upset. I know US our HOUSE we get going so fast sometimes Spring would be here and we would forget. We do not mean to we just look and time is gone. Yes weather can just be crazy here here in Ks myself I wish it could be 70 everyday of winter and even warmer if it likes I hate cold. Rita Jean

Having had a dog treated for heartworm years ago, believe me the arsenic treatments can be dangerous and painful. (See above link)

    So we took Akeyla to the vet for her heartworm check…everything went great! We will start her on heartworm prevention today :)

    I have used it for about 3 months now. Seems to be doing good so far. I was Leary at first, I'm so used to the oral heart worm preventive !! Doesn't seem like something that goes on the skin could work as well. My Vet says it's great and she has been using it and advantage on her dogs since it came out.
