Wow how did you train him to do that? Mine still try to fight me every time. I just tip them on their backs while in a comfy chair and fight with them to get their feet to stay still. Good job on the falling asleep bit!

Thanks! lol. The funny thing is I never trained him to do it lol. He's just always been pretty laid back about me poking, prodding, trimming and such. I guess its just his personality. Ill get a video clip sometime if I can lol.

I won't claim I have never smacked a dog… pop for effect not hard enough to hurt. But I also won't pretend it is good training or necessary. Is it abusive, no. But it is not good training. But then, I also think the best parents don't spank. I want neither my dogs or child to behave for fear of getting hit, even if the hit doesn't hurt. I want them to do what I want through training, rewards and punishments that do not include hitting.

3 Foot high fence really can be jumped by a Basenji. When Chance was 2 mts old he was climbing a 3 footer! We have a "modified" 4 foot metal gate at the top of the stair case which we know can not be jumped over. If it were on a flat surface and not at the top of the stairwell I bet it could be jumped over too!

My advice besides the crate training is to empty him before you leave. Make time to go on a short walk until he goes potty before you leave.

My dogs sometimes will poop three times on a short walk. They actually strain to get everything out of them to mark as much as the neighborhood as they can.

Our female even backs up and pees on trees.

If the he is empty & maybe give him a chewy to keep him busy, and a really nice blanket to sleep on. They love snuggling certain things.

He's going to have a hard time pooping/peeing in the house if he has nothing inside of him.
