My 10 week old female b has a swollen tee tee

Basenji Health Issues & Questions
  • My puppy has a swollen tee tee. My vet gave her a small dose of antibotic but it didnt help. I have been to 2 vets and both say it is nothing to be worried about. Urinaliis was negative and there is not discharge. I just hate it for her…anyone know anything???

  • Thank y'all for the suggestions. I have made another appointment with another vet for in the morning. They said if they couldn't figure it out they would send me to a specialist that could. Hopefully tomorrow they will ge this little girl taken care of.

  • Do let us know how it goes.

  • I found the problem with my puppies swollen tee tee to be the hormones I was putting on my arms. She would bite and grab hold of my arms and I guess she was getting some of the hormones that way. I have stopped putting these on my arms and her tee tee is getting better and better.

@LindaH: I used Missing Link Plus with Maxx (the "Plus" is the one for joint support) and, IMO, it made a huge difference with him. Maxx had Valley Fever for the last 4 years of his life. It skipped the respiratory phase and went straight to the disseminated phase, affecting his bones. I could tell a big difference in him once I started giving him the Missing Link Plus. Do they like the taste?

Very good idea, Dan. I haven't had that happen in a while, but you don't ge a whole lot of warning before it lands in your lap..or bed..

@LovingLola: Thanks. I didn't know that they should see an opthamologist regularly. Yes, it is highly recommended, IMO for all breeds, but especially for ours that have eye problems. Like I said, once I have a base line that shows no problems, I don't have a problem with going every two years when in their prime. And it is not all that expensive at least not in the Bay Area and believe me, we are pretty pricey on Vet things….

Gosh - Hope the vet helps Senji feel better. Duke gets a bath whenever he gets dirty - in summer, once a month. He's 1 yr. old. Right now, being winter - he doesn't get dirty because the ground is frozen. I don't know what would be a normal bath schedule for Basenjis. Sending a big wish to Senji for healing health.
