Northern IL basenjis?

Basenji Meetups & Events
  • Any fellow basenjis in the Lake County area of Illinois? I'd love to get together at one of the great Lake County dog parks with some other basenjis and their owners and my 1 year boy Ajax. ~Shelley in Ingleside,IL

  • Hey dogstar42,

I'm not in that exact area but the Basenji Club of Southern Wisconsin(http://www.bcosw.org/) has several activities every year not far from you, one of which is a Fun Day where everyone can bring there dog for fun and games in Rockford, IL. It's on July 11 this year. You should consider joining the club. They haven't updated the calendar on the website yet but if you look in the latest newsletter it has a list of most of the dates for the year. There is also a Chicagoland Basenji Club but I am not as familiar with that one.

I will check out the Facebook page. There is a nice dog park in Encinitas, but I'm not sure how far you are from the area.

I'm so sorry for your loss, that truly breaks my heart. I have two basenjis, I don't know what I would do without them. They are my world. Bengy and Tyson are their names. If you would like Cecil to have a play date I wouldn't mind, I think I'd be awesome!

Yes, I agree with you Patty, they are not just for Judges. When I did my Confirmation and Movement Seminar I found it really interesting on how various breeds moved and how they fitted in with the function for which they were originally intended. Funnily enough one of the dogs that was helping with the talk was a Basenji !!!! unfortunately I didn't get to over over her for my hands on !!! lol My OH went on his Breed Specific the other day ( Dobes ), and had a brilliant day. You never stop learning, and the day you say you have, you should give up lol !!!!!!
