    Folks have mentioned before how their dogs will watch TV, well …
    Last night I was watching Eight Below (for those who haven't seen it, it's a disney-style movie about expedition sled dogs) and of course EL D would sit and watch as long as the sled dogs were visible or barking. When the storyline changed and the dogs were on their own and would bark to each other to work out their problem, EL D laid down, and pretty soon he would turn and look at me (a couple times) with this really sad look on his face. And then when one of the dogs die, EL D gave me one more sad look and curled up in the couch corner as far under his blanket as he could get. Seeing EL D respond like that made me even more sad than the movie plot did. When the rescue comes at the end I made sure to clap and yay so EL D might get the message. I have to admit I felt sheepish but who knows - these dogs are intelligent!

    Sahara loves the movie Eight Below, she watches the dogs barking and pulling the sleigh, it is her favorite to watch.

    Ah yeah though the site that I saw clearly had a picture of a Basenji representing the breed! Your link, they look nothing like Bs

    Hi @Vesna, it’s interesting you say that about the spay. Our tri-color actually just got spayed this week and her coat shed before that. I noticed small amount of black hair growing in where she shed, hopefully it grows back. What phase is your tri-color at? Did this just happen?

    Ah ok cool thanks, I had something like that when Safi was smaller and it was the most successful for sure. She outgrew it quite quickly though

    I can't listen to that, it would wake my girl up and well... I'm not into a "sing along" just now. ;) I will say that many canines howl and yodel and bay (at the moon, whenever a fire truck passes, etc.). I'm not certain that any one breed is distinctive enough to have a sound all their own, but many a proud owner would probably assert so.

    My undergraduate degree was in geophysics with a minor in applied math. I name all my Basenjis after Indian mathematicians. My current Basenjis are Madhava of Sangamagrama (Madhava for short) and Bramagupta (Bramagupta for short). They do respond to their "short" names.
