Animal Behaviorist?

Off Topic

  • I have a friend, Sandy, who has a chow mix dog, recently he has started getting territorial with her, her husband (bit him last night) and other pets over certain places in the house. She thinks he may be territorial over her with the others as well. He has started to become rather grouchy in the last 6 months but normally is social, very shy and friendly otherwise especially with her 10 year old grandson. When she tries to groom him he snaps at her (and bit her) a few weeks ago her groomer had a real struggle with him he was being very aggressive towards the groomer. Buster is 3 years old.

I suggested getting an Animal Behaviorist but we don't know where to find one, does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks

    I hope this helps :)

  • If this is a recent change, has the dog been seen by a vet? When a dog is in pain they will often have a behavorial change and be more grouchy and not like being touched.

I would like to have them take a look at that pet store I got AJ's new food from in Bradenton, Florida…Petland 3530 53rd Ave W. When I got the food, there were at least 50 puppies for sale in there, mostly small breeds and some of them with wet eyes and brown staining around the eyes. Puppies doubled and tripled in cages and advertising for payment plans to buy the pups. I asked whether they ever got Basenjis in there....the owner said he hadn't yet but could order one for me. HUH??? How could I possibly purchase a puppy who I had no idea what its history was, where it came from, who its parents were....And how does a retail pet store "order" a Basenji? I almost returned all the food I bought, but AJ needed it and I can't just go to a pet store whenever I want to. I was a little miffed about it. Yeah, I know...I sound like a hypocrit because I took AJ without meeting his parents and all that, but I think it was a slightly different situation. He's my rescue boy and I do know his history.

A dog would not necessarily be a bad idea in a normal museum setting but if you look at the pictures of that museum everything was displayed in such a way that it would be a huge temptation for an animal. In fact, it would be a huge temptation for a small child that was under adult supervision.
