Adventures in Doggie Daycare

  • Has anyone seen this show on the We channel?

I caught an episode the other night and I Tivo'd the season and I am watching it right now. It is too funny, they were talking about how bad the Puggles that come there are which cracked me up because I also have a Puggle! :D

  • I gotta find this & Tivo too! Thanks for the tip :)

  • Oh great thanks, we are now obsessed with anything to do with our furry friends. I love puggles's, that was my husbands first choice when we were thinking of adopting. I like the pugley's (mix of beagle and pug).

  • Us too anything with furballs we want to watch :D :D

So I now Tivo Animal Precinct (this is heart breaking stuff) EVet Interns (great stories that you can learn a lot from) and Dog shows! I can't watch Cesar anymore..I think I've had enough of "you're not acting as pack leader!"

  • But the idea behind "pack" leader is correct, however I do not always agree with his methods.
There is a new show on A.Planet called "Its me or the dog", Monday's at 8:30 (at least on the West Coast). It is with an English woman who is a behaviorist and it is very well done… she also promotes highly positive training methods.

  • I did see a commercial for that…it does sound like a good show. I'll have to check it out.

I agree..altho it seems like ALL of Cesar's clients have the same issue :D don't they get it by now?? It's like the same story over & over again lol

How very true, however it just goes to show what a big serious problem this is

This story has some elements of urban myth in it - see http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/stuffedtoys.asp As they point out its not only stuffed toys that are treated with anti fungals/bacterials - fillings of duvets/doonas/quilts/comforters/ pillows/cushions/pet beds are all potentially treated with the same chemicals. Also there is no details that if you wash toy/quilt whether the chemical is removed/reduced. I would also be very surprised if there were any standards imposed on what is deemed appropriate or safe for pet toys - there seems to be little or no regulation as to what can be fed/added to pet food around the world. That is not to say that there are very good manufacturers of pet food/toys who take the research upon themselves. However if I went along to my local craft store and bought a commercially available filling, how would I know whether it had been treated or not?

My parents got one of these but they didn't realize when they bought that they actually had to do regular maintainence with it, such as adding water and activators. They never really used it too much. So, if you don't mind that, it sounds like a pretty good idea. Definitely let us know, I've been thinking about getting one myself.

Vinegar and water is good on any surface that I have used it on over the years… and I think safe for any surface/material.... When I have puppies, I keep a spray bottle of 1/2 and 1/2.... then when I had all elders in the house maybe 1/3 vinegar and 2/3 water.. I would start out with warm water, but since I just left the bottle sitting around.. it was really room temp. I found that the elders pee was much less concentrated then the pups.. so lots less smell... however puppy pee is way smaller in size... ggg

This is a tragic story. I would think the doggy door led into a yard with no fence.
