    I'd love to find a brother for my 3+ yr. old B/W female "Blackjack". I have a home with a 6' fence, and I come home for lunch during the workday. I have two cats, but they stay segregated from Blackjack. She can't take "no" for an answer to play with them - and almost got her eye "swacked out." I'd be willing to drive a couple hours in any direction for a potential adoption. I'm outside Carson City, NV.

    Where are you located? I have several breeders to recommend in the midwest! In the meantime, checking the BCOA list as Tanza suggested is a good place to start. Be warned though, puppies are being born this time of the year and many breeders have waiting lists!

    Where are you located? There are actually a lot of options. Sadly, as of late, not a lot of basenjis being posted to BRAT. There are other rescues, including a great rescue for basenjis in Florida and California. Also, if you can't find a suitable rescue, please consider young and adults from breeders that they have decided don't fit their breeding plan. They also need and make great pets.

    @Dsims1976 really should contact BRAT - i didnt want togo through the puppy stage as well- and hes been such a pussy cat!!! i got my 2 year old basenji to accompany my other boy and hes been awesome!!!!

    It isn't that they are necessarily outside dogs…they are just incredibly "barky" dogs so they get sent outside a lot. Any and ever time anyone is out in our backyard, their dog barks and barks and bark for-ev-er until we go inside. Those dogs may drive us crazy, but they are still animals and we still feel bad for them :(
