• I got my first AKC juniors win with Am./Can./Intl Ch. Coastal's Lighthouse Louie on Saturday. The judge came up to me after the BJH ring and told me if I had tightened up my lead on the down and back I would have gotten BJH. He told me personally that I did a great job.

    I am soo happy 🙂

  • You did good girl! Louie was a dream in the ring…

  • Congratulations!!

  • I couldn't make it this year, but CONGRATS!

How cool to have your first win at a Specialty!

Hope to meet you at the one of the shows sometime, I have a 20 month old r/w dog and a 7 month old b/w puppy girl.

  • I might be going to nationals..so will be able to cheer Dude and Ono as well as Louie on…
Are you taking Louie to the nationals??

  • Oh, I wanted to add a story on this about the judge…what a very sweet man. One of the juniors didn't make the cut, and started to cry in the ring....He was distressed that he caused her such pain, so when everyone else had gotten their b out of the ring, he went over to her, told her how well SHE handled her basenji, but with the wet grass, the dog wasn't moving right for her...so, totally put this on the b'...and the little girl left feeling good about her handling skills.
Sweet man...he won my heart by doing this....

  • This can be a hard sport on the juniors. I saw a couple of girls really upset with losing or coming in last. It must be hard, thinking that you are not good enough, or that your dog is not good enough, or both…

  • That is why this judge won my heart…he said, she had a good b, she did good, but the dog wouldn't move on the wet grass...
Anyway, seeing how this young girls tears touched this judge...I just think he is wonderful.
