Kathy, I sure didn't mean to indicate it isn't a godsend or fantastic! Of course it is. I just meant… well as the Arabs say, Trust in G-d but tie your camel. Get the testing, use it to help guide breeding, retest if necessary, but keep doing the strip test. It's an easy if annoying process that protects your dog against testing errors or human errors.

I was recommended by a Basenji breeder friend to get Buddy's thyroid tested now that he's a year old. He's not showing any of the signs of low thyroid but she said he should get checked. I just had him at the vet 2 weeks ago for a yeast infection and she said, without me saying anything about it that she'd check his thyroid but she felt he's too young.
