I was recommended by a Basenji breeder friend to get Buddy's thyroid tested now that he's a year old. He's not showing any of the signs of low thyroid but she said he should get checked. I just had him at the vet 2 weeks ago for a yeast infection and she said, without me saying anything about it that she'd check his thyroid but she felt he's too young.
Never too young to get a base line…. and please look at this link it is pretty much written in layman's terms and follows Dr. Dodds recommentations.
