Bwahahah!

Basenji Talk
  • I am watching a rerun of the 2004 Eukanuba Classic on AP. Just saw the beautiful basenji Ch FoPaws Designated Driver , or Sober (I hope I got his registered name right!)

Anyhow, the announcers made the obligatory comments about not barking, and making funny sounds…blah, blah.....then they said these cute little dogs can be gentle (yes), very very playful (yes), native to central Africa (yes) and.........OBEDIENT....bwahahaha! I rewound if a few times to actually hear if that is what they said! I could even live with "easy to train"...but NEVER, EVER obedient!

Thanks goodness the announcers have improved so much over the years!

    Just had to share ;)

Make that a double Bwahahaha! Obedient if there's something in it for them maybe:D …......Ha Ha.

  • OBEDIENT??!! :/ yeah right?! I guess they never met TOPAZ :)

  • I think Nicky's expression in this picture says it all. He has his Rally Novice title and this was the day he earned his first qualifying score.

    Hee, hee!!!

  • BB…you REALLY have too much time on your hands. Nonetheless, you provide so much enjoyment for everyone including me! :D

  • I think I remember snickering when I heard that comment, Andrea! I used to tell my friends when they would call after I first got Nala and I would say, "Have I told you recently _NOT _to get a dog?"
I love the greeting card, Basenji Boy…and I absolutely love the look on Nicky's face! Perfect!

  • hehe, figures. so sly

Well isn't she a sassy little thing? Thanks so much for the information. I had not heard of this one at all. I will Google it to get more info and find where to purchase! Deb

Hi @Vesna, it’s interesting you say that about the spay. Our tri-color actually just got spayed this week and her coat shed before that. I noticed small amount of black hair growing in where she shed, hopefully it grows back. What phase is your tri-color at? Did this just happen?

Ah ok cool thanks, I had something like that when Safi was smaller and it was the most successful for sure. She outgrew it quite quickly though

I can't listen to that, it would wake my girl up and well... I'm not into a "sing along" just now. ;) I will say that many canines howl and yodel and bay (at the moon, whenever a fire truck passes, etc.). I'm not certain that any one breed is distinctive enough to have a sound all their own, but many a proud owner would probably assert so.

We use ones from Rukka. Not sure if they’re available everywhere but they are they best ones we have tried (others always fell off, especially in deep snow). I think having two Velcro closures on each sock has been key. I also prefer the soft shell ones as our B seems to accept them more and they don’t twist as much as the ones with a hard sole. Here are the ones I am referring to: https://rukkapets.com/paw-wear/thermal-shoes-black
