I am ready to do the DNA test
-
I have glanced thought these threads and cant seem to find out how to do this. Is it blood work? Cheek swab?
I have been doing the strips and I realize that the DNA test is so much better- so count me in and tell me, or point me to, what I need to do now.
Thank youETA: Squiggy is not registered and was probably a PM or BB dog.
But I love him -
Go to www.basenjihealth.org for all the details, including registering with CPP

You have to first register with CPP and then add your dog to your profile, and then decide if you want to do the cheek swab OR the blood draw. The blood draw is better for further research, but the cheek swab is easier. You don't have to have a registration number from any club. The registration number from CPP is what will be used to get the results to the OFA website.

Thank you both for you help.
I will register him today and get started. Is either test more accurate?

They are both the same as far as I know
-
They should be both equally as accurate, but you just have to make sure that the dog hasn't eaten anything that was alive for a MINIMUM of an hour before the cheek swab, while it doesn't really matter for the blood test.
