URGENT Transport Help Required

Basenji Rescue
  • BRAT (Basenji Rescue And Transport) is in urgent need of transport help for Red, a beautiful, 22 pound, 4 year old purebred Basenji presently in expensive boarding in northern Arkansas (which is eating up BRAT's funds). Red needs to get out of boarding and in to her foster home ASAP. She has not yet been spayed, but will be immediately upon reaching her foster in Lexington, KY. She is up to date on her immunizations and is very very sweet.
We need transport help from Springfield, MO to St. Louis, MO. We have covered the rest of the way from St. Louis to Lexington, KY, where her foster resides. We are sooo close!
Is there anyone available to help transport this girl THIS WEEKEND? We are desperate, PLEASE contact Joanne Free

I sent Yachtz' information along to Muttville. They are a Bay Area rescue that specializes in senior dogs, and they have a wide network of supporters. Yachtz should at least get a cross-listing with them, if not a foster or adopter!

Our local Humane Society collects dog food donations (even opened bags) for distribution to those who can't afford to feed their pets. I try and drop off a bag once in a while, but I forget. Thanks for the reminder!

This is just my opinion…I like to fly dogs to their new homes if possible. Car run are ok...but I always worry about accidents, or a dog getting loose. With the plane, its a lot quicker.

Sometimes as a rescue person, the kindest thing we can advice, or do, is give the dog peace of the rainbow bridge. I have had to do that in the past…thank heavens, not for years. Its never been something I have done lightly, but I have never felt it was a wrong decision. The only decision I could do to give peace to the dog...
