NC-Columbus-Brindle Male Basenji Mix-In Shelter

Basenji Rescue
  • This 3 year old boy is listed as a Cattle Dog/Basenji mix. He is a gorgeous dark brindle and weighs 35 lbs. but he looks like he needs to lose some weight. He could possibly pass as PB. He has a partially curled tail over his back. The shelter is located halfway between Asheville, NC-40 miles away to the South and Spartanburg, SC-30 miles away to the North. It is also 40 miles away from Greenville, SC and 80 miles away from Charlotte, NC.

I have not contacted the shelter to see if he is still available.

    Here is his Petfinder page:

I guess for some people he is too large for a Chi and not quite a Basenji-too small as he weighs 15 lbs. He is estimated to be 5 years old. If you know someone who might be interested in him or a rescue group that could take him, please forward the information. This boy is listed on Craigslist as urgent and here is his information and the link: http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/pet/2772364788.html "CODY" needs a second chance. He is a male, Chihuahua / Basenji Mix. He has been at the Van Nuys shelter since OCTOBER 15, 2011. Because "CODY" has been at the shelter so long he is running out of time. Due to the shelter running over capacity he will be euthanized soon if he does not get adopted. Please if you are looking for a dog consider adopting "CODY" and giving him a second chance. He is at the East Valley Shelter in Van Nuys. To see a photo and get additional information please see the link below. http://www.petharbor.com/pet.asp?uaid=LACT.A1257520 Jennifer

The thing with multi-generational mutts is that they tend toward the dog "default" which is the same look that you see in many street dogs and pariah dog, medium size, prick ears, and often tan coloring. Since basenjis are a primitive dog they share these characteristics.
