It Took Me 1.5 years of looking and talking to breeders before I was able to get on the waiting list in time to get a pup. You have to start preparing and talking to breeders in the early fall in order to get on the reservation list for a puppy by next spring

@debradownsouth I disagree about letting Bs pack with older dogs. I had my B for 16 years and she was trained by older well-trained dogs. They do model their behavior after the dogs because they want to be members of the Pack. I also had 2 Wolves and my B accepted them immediately. When I would walk the dog and the Wolf, the other dogs in the Park dragged their owners out of the Park. Canines, no matter the Breed, are terrified of Wolves. I have video of my B and my Wolf engaging in mutual grooming. Due to that I am convinced that the Basenji is related to the Ancient Wolves. If that were not the case my B would have been terrified just like the other Dogs in the Park. She adored her Wolves and grieved when they passed.

@kjdonkers Yes, or at least a confined area with a potty pad set up or potty station. Then if she HAS to go, no disaster.

I would also look on Petharbor and Adopt-A-Pet. It can be difficult to find one under 1 year of age. You might have to go farther in your search or perhaps raise the age to 2 years. Jennifer

I think they're trying to look legit! Knowing that most "ethical" breeders ask a good amount for our dogs (course mind you we have a lot of money stuck into our dogs prior to the "sale" price). And the fact that we're not into dogs to make money.
