Prince Gizmo the first
Well Gizmo is nearly 9 months old, he's been with us for just over 3 months and in that time he's made us laugh and cry
He's just brilliant if not a little basenji (I mean that as the intended insult lol) at times. He's such a character and an absolute snuggle bug.
People are always asking about him when we're out and the word I use most to describe him is Regal. He is the Prince, of that there is no doubt. We are only here to serve.

RE: Basenji Reactivity- please help!
On the other hand, for some reason Basenjis LOVE to stop in the middle of the street. To FLAP. No idea why but they all seem to think it's a great idea, which it definitely is not.
Oh my, yes! The flap in the middle of the street
Weve had Gizmo 2 weeks now and I've mentioned this to my daughter how he loves to do it on his walk.He is also a master other doggy stalker then meets them to play but sometimes the pounce scares other dogs away.

RE: Looking for Basenji (Switzerland)
We have had our Basenji boy for just over a week. He came to us from Belarus to UK from a wonderful breeder who gave us lots of information, support and contact while we waited for him to be able to travel.

RE: Patiently (ish) waiting
Well on Friday night at 12:30am, after a long journey, our Gizmo arrived home.
He has settled in like a dream. The first 24 hours have been great. He's great with my 6 year old daughter, walking nicely (was pulling a lot at first) and no messes in the house.
I was worried how he would do in his create at night after all his naps being on the hooman cushions. But after a little time of whimpering he's slept well too.

RE: Crate training
Thank you all for the help.
@Zande yes, UK based. Good memory.
I've ordered this one, 30inch, got tray at the bottom and I've ordered a matt to make it soft for sleeping too.
If he grows out of it I'll pass this on to another and get bigger but hopefully this will do at first for the very least.

RE: Crate training
@jengosmonkey thank you, that's the type I've been looking at. So 30inch is good size?
It's like the three bears, I want it just right not too big not too small.

Crate training
So our beautiful Gizmo is joining the family next week and while he will have the run of of the house mostly we do want to crate train.
What size should I be looking to get? He's 5 months old now.
Thank you

RE: Patiently (ish) waiting
I am very happy with the breeder we have chosen she has been so helpful and I can see she is well thought of in the community.
We are now down to 2 names (we think, 6 year old changes her mind every 5 minutes lol). Gizmo (front runner) and Fox.

Patiently (ish) waiting
Hi all, I thought I'd introduce myself.
My name is Steph, and me and my family are currently waiting for our Basenji Puppy to be old enough to come live with us. He should be arriving mid April.
We live in North West UK and when times permit id love to meet some other basenjis to have a puppy playtime.
Our breeder has been wonderful answering all my pestering questions and sending me videos of our beautiful boy.I do adore this picture of my cheeky "wee" boy.
