Tillo and Lycia

  • @irena:

    Are you thinking about new member to pack as soon as Lycia goes back to her owner?

    Yes, definitely… :D

    @snorky998:

    I was wondering the same thing. 5-6 months is a long time. The heart gets attached in a week or so, no?

    Has her or Tillo's behavior changed since she came to stay with you? How do you think Tillo will behave once she's gone? They seem to have bonded so fast.

    This weekend was the first time I felt I really attached to her.. so it took me two weeks ;) It decreased a bit this night.. because she 'asked' us EVERY HOUR if she really wasn't allowed to come into our bed.. :rolleyes: ;) :D

    Tillo is a bit more growly to other males. It's a good thing they go to doggy day care, because it corrects a lot of this behaviour. When outside they are in a mixed group, so that's good practise for Tillo ;) The owner is of course always around to correct. On leash I just keep him away from other males. I don't see that as a big problem. Lycia is kind to all dogs, so that's really easy :D

    I think Tillo will miss Lycia once she's gone.. I also think Lycia will miss the company. She really 'looks up to' Tillo.. don't know how to explain :)

    Edit: BF and I keep saying that Lauren lied about Lycia.. gggg.. she said Lycia is a slow eater….. no way...She finishes before Tillo and she gets more!! And 'she never plays with stuffed animals'..... yeah right... ggg.. so maybe she did change as well ;) :D

  • What a cute couple! They look really lovely, Jannneke, great pic again!

  • @Janneke:

    Yes, definitely… :D

    And have you already chosen a breeder. Will it be from Sweden again :D ?

  • Thanks Petra :)

    @irena:

    And have you already chosen a breeder. Will it be from Sweden again :D ?

    Maybe I've choosen a breeder. ;) But it won't be this year/breeding season, because Lycia is still around when the pups can leave their moms. Or pups must be born in the spring of 2010..

  • great couple :D
    and that Tillo thinks he is more male now,sounds very familiar hahaha same here with the males when I walk them together with 1 or more females >sigh< but when they are off leash it is better and nothing goes wrong ! but then I am lucky I can have my basenjis, 1 podenco and the galgo off leash on most of my walks.

  • Janneke, that sure are stunning together..what a couple. I am glad to hear that Tillo and Lycia have found each other and accepts each other in their space (or should I say in Tillo's space), you are doing a remarkable thing for Lycia and her human mother by letting her stay with you until things are ready, kudos to you and Job..and Tillo too.

  • Lovely, absolutely lovely..

  • The best pic for me is with Tillo and Beagle-WRESTLING :D.

    But all pics are great of course ;).

  • LOL that poor beagle! Great hunting pictures.

    @Elysium: Yeees - same on Zuri :D It looks … strange :rolleyes: But I get used to it. The winter coat always goes over her tail and I don't like that. Thinking the wind will move under. So I fix it. The rain coat is thinner and doesn't move. On Thabo, it doesn't look like a thong so much. He has more muscles than Zuri and nothing can go "into" his skin. You can buy a green one??? :eek: We only have brown, black and red. But someone told me, that the brown looks very green :D Tillo doesn't like it when his tail is on top of the coat.. don't know why that is.. ;) I just search on the site where I bought it… it's brown.. :confused: :D It looks green to me ;) (doesn't it look green on the pics?) I was thinking about buying the human rain coat, so Tillo and I can walk in style.. gg.. but it's way too expensive :(

    @Schouiffy: Well, as for well mannered. Once, I was told by the roomie of a friend I could bring Lycia over as LONG as she never peed on his bed. I found that threat to be hysterical, outside of it being dreadfully specific Lycia had never urinated on a bed in her life. And what do you think happened? For no reason what so ever, my little completely housebroken girl peed on his bed the following morning while he was at work. You have never seen an entire bed cleaned so throughly in such a short amount of time, I was throughly embarrassed. She has never done it since. It's the universe at work. If you don't want something like not wanting your B to do something or are resisting something believe me you're going to get it. That what you resist you get, like peeing on a bed. ;). I've been thinking about this since I got Buddy. I worry more about him than I did with my previous three Basenjis. I rarely had problems with them. So I'm trying to go back to back to that mind set. It's like your thoughts go right into their little heads.

    @Schouiffy: =) yep yep!! long live the forums!!!!!!!!!! We had a really spectacular weekend, Janneke and Job were amazing hosts and I know Lycia and Tilo are gonna have some special months together. It helps with the separation knowing she will be well loved =) Hey there ! Happy to hear that everything went perfectly last weekend ! As promised, I was in "stand-by" just in case there were problems.;) I'm convinced Lycia will have a great time with her new friend and wonderfull Janneke and Job; in a few weeks we have a great show with the Basenji Club of the Netherlands so Lycia can meet Bendji too !
