    Hi all…sorry it's taken so long. I did not end up getting a Basenji - though I really really still want one. I did get a Jack Russell. As I said before, my mother breeds them and like any good breeder, when the people who bought her found out they were pregnant, they no longer wanted the puppy. So she was in need of a home and we were looking for a dog.

    Anyway, anyone know how a Basenji might get a long with a Jack?

    I know people with Jack's and Basenjis.. do just find.. but lots of energy there between the two….

    Hi there! Sorry, I just saw your message. Fortunately for me I'm keeping my dog. After much discussion and agreement we've decided to keep him. He's much calmer and easier to live with now he's 7m.

    This time of your from a responsible breeder you will be hard pressed to find an available puppy, most all responsible breeders have full reservation list for any pups that they had this past year (2020/2021). Please be sure that you check out health testing if you happen to find a puppy... And I would suggest that you contact breeders in the PNW for possible pups for the Fall/Winter of 2021

    The only place I know in the UK that actually requests copies of health certificates from breeders is www.champdogs.co.uk I am sure if there are other sites and or places someone will be quick to correct me, but this is the only one I know. Hope that helps.

    Glad things are settling down for you. Now is a great time to get on breeders puppy lists. Go to the Basenji Club and contact breeders in states close enough for traveling to. If you're interested in a bit older, be sure to ask if they have any or know of another breeder who may have gotten a puppy back that didn't work out. Good luck in your search.

    I think they're trying to look legit! Knowing that most "ethical" breeders ask a good amount for our dogs (course mind you we have a lot of money stuck into our dogs prior to the "sale" price). And the fact that we're not into dogs to make money.
