Greeting from Indonesia…please help to find a reputable breeder

    Hi everyone

    Thanks for letting me join the forum. I am from Indonesia, precisely in city Medan. Me and my wife has been searching for a good family dog with small size, a little shedding and less dander and grooming need as well. And our research lead us to Basenji. Unfortunately, it is a very rare breed in Indonesia and I haven't found any breeder as well.

    My only choice seems to buy from overseas breeder that's also willing to send worldwide. I found so many on internet and I am not sure about their real reputation and none of them specify whether they want ship worldwide or not.

    Can anyone please help me to locate a reputable breeder in any country that also willing to ship overseas ?

When someone goes to another breed's forum and advertises their dogs, when RESPONSIBLE breeders generally have legit breed specific places to notify of litters, and to find good homes.... how desperate or bad does that breeder have to be? Another thought, go to the page. :) You can see first hand what a puppymill/backyard breeder page looks like. :) Puppies for sale, purebred litter born. A responsible breeder has sire/dam, testing, titles listed. They are selling you responsibly bred, tested and make health a priority. The others... well, just wants to sell you a puppy. "Noble"... more like ignoble. OH, and as a bonus there, you get to keep paying through the nose by being REQUIRE to buy into their pyramid sales items: , feeding them only Life’s Abundance dog food advanced nutrition diet, as well as NuVet immune system booster supplements.<< Life's Abundance isn't bad, but too expensive and imho, way too high protein. And not one iota of proof their NuVet immune supplements do anything except line their pockets.

    @Basenjilover74: Hello fellow Basenji lovers! I am looking for a reputable breeder here in Alaska. Anyone have a good contact? I am willing to go to Seattle if I must. Finding one here would be fabulous though. I want one by Christmas for my kids (9&4). They have been asking for a dog for three years, and I have done my research, and want this amazing breed! Thanks to any and all for your help!;) If you are interested in visiting a Basenji in person… feel free to email me and we can get that set up for you. There are a number of Khani's Basenjis in Alaska and I am sure their folks would love to share their babies with you. This would give you a better idea if you really do want a Basenji.

    At 18 months and 7lbs I very much doubt that he's got Basenji in him but who knows. It doesn't matter,- he's a delightfulchap and good to have you both on here. Looking forward to more pictures.

    Try to find somewhere that offers the IDEXX snap 4DX test. It tests for heartworm as well as lyme, erlichia and anaplasmosis. The last 3 are all rickettsial diseases that can cause behavioral changes as well. If medical causes are ruled out, there is a great group on yahoo groups called agbeh. It is the Aggressive behaviors in dogs group.     Hi cmd - My name is Jill and I am the recipient of a rescued male puppy, Duke, who I have since learned (after 4 months) is a Basenji, now 8 mos. old. I love this forum, because I have learned alot about this breed. I now realize that Basenjis are a challenge, but I believe the more I know, the easier he will be for me and my family. There is no turning back now because we are in love with Duke . Select "Bonnie Bell" a 10 month old female (from Emerant's the Instigator and Select in my Pocket) and "Ramsey" Geheep's Klassic Jim a 11 year old male (Klassic Eye of the Tiger and Baruh's Jessica Hahnd) Wish I knew where Duke's blood lines run. You must be proud. I am new at this and I love to read the stories and learn that I am not crazy! I am glad you're a veteran as are many forum friends here. I love the stories about the Basenji's extraordinary body of energy and their purposes. Can you guess why my handle is Crazy Duke? I can tell you about some unbelievable stories about Duke since bringing him home already. (That's why I'm glad to find this forum - Duke's not crazy, he's a Basenji.) She was an awesome dog and was very very loyal. I am so sorry for your loss. But the only comfort we have is knowing she had a great life being in your life. I've lost many doggies over the rainbow to squirrel heaven. I hope you'll share some more stories and help us new-B's here on the Basenji Forum.
