EBC weekend Specialty/maturity/obedience Wa

    Its not too early to mark you calendars to reserve the first weekend in Aug.
    Evergreen Basenji club is have the 40 Annual Speciality Show and the 32 Annerul Futurity-24 Annual Maturity-6th obedience trial-4th Rally trial.

    Its in Auburn Wa. and its great fun.
    I take off work and go to watch the b's visit with friends, and enjoy the dogs.

    Dates are Fri Aug 1-2 with a hound show on sun.

    If your planning on attending, do sign up for the EBC banquet.
    Lots of good food, right on the show grounds, followed by a fun auction of basenji items.
    That is on sat evening.

    You might want to look into the Jumping Chollas Agility Club; they are a nice group of people, and use overall good training methods for basenjis. I can't think of anyone off hand training their basenji for agility in Phoenix, but a couple of us from Tucson show up and run our dogs at the JCAC trials. The Phoenix Field and Obedience Club does a great job putting on obedience trials, and they do offer training classes. I can't verify the training methods used, so you would have to check and see if they are agreeable to you and how you want to acheive your goals with your basenji. There are a lot of nice people in that club as well, so just getting to know some of them can lead you to training classes or instructors with whom you should be comfortable. Again, I don't know of anyone in Phoenix actively showing basenjis in obedience right now, but we Tucsonans show up and show off our kids in Rally and regular Obedience. Good luck with your furkid!     I think I'll still probably just get a second crate, it'll be needed at some point or another anyway. I've got plenty of time to figure things out.

    I have a doggie door and we love it, not to mention my Basenji, Sahara. I also have underground electric fence, so that keeps her in the yard. I leave it open most of the time, but I have had to close it when I didn't want her to go outside. I have not had any trouble with other animals coming, I live just outside the city limits, and my town is small, not many wild animals near me. It has been really warm here in NC so I have not closed it at night, but when cold weather comes I will close it. Sahara goes out by herself when she has to potty during the day, but most of the time I take her out at night on her leash. She does not like the darkness by herself, silly girl. haha!!!! By the way I never use the crate anymore, she is free to go since I got the fencing.
