@susanna Hey there Susanna! It is great that you are interested in a basenji! they are crazy but sweet family pets! I am sorry that it took me so long to get back with you as I am just now seeing this! Maybe we could arrange something some time if you were still open to the idea!

RE: Seeking a Basenji in Texas
There is a woman who breeds basenjis in Johnson City near Fredricksburg! You may have some luck contacting her.. I cant remember her name at the moment but you may be able to find her if you google johnson city tx basenjis. It would be a little drive for you but not too terrible and the drive is also beautiful so at least you would get a little adventure from it.

RE: Lost Basenji puppy
--Also, I know my vet here will print out fliers for your lost dog for free and also post it on their webpage so that more people can see it! I would definitely go and try to talk to a local vet!

RE: Lost Basenji puppy
If you have facebook/ social media, I would try and post there and continuously search the neighborhood you lost your baby in or around that area. Being such a young age its hard to tell where it may go but I feel like people may see it and grab it due to it being so cute and small, therefore I feel like you could have more luck on an online watch page for that area or by putting out fliers. Also try the local animal shelters/vets because sometimes people will take them there to see if they are chipped! So sorry, and I really hope you find your baby soon!! prayers sent your way!

RE: FDA alerts consumers, vets to watch dogs for hyperthyroidism
I am currently just using this version of blue buffalo only in the dry mix/kibble form.. I only read about the canned blue buffalo but now I'm kind nervous about the other..

Basenji owners in Austin Tx
Hello everyone! Just wondering if anyone near the Austin tx area or San Antonio/new braunfuls area owns a basenji or knows of any basenji groups that meet up periodically! Our baby is only 4months at the moment but it would be so much fun to take her to a basenji meeting when she gets older and have her play with some basenjis like her! Thanks for any info!!

RE: Play biting or aggressive behavior?
Thank you for the feedback! I will have to try that next time and see if it works! When did Lela stop biting, was it around six months or so?

RE: Play biting or aggressive behavior?
Let me know what your trainer tells you!! I have a 13 week old baby right now and she is getting better with her biting but it is still there and I am still trying to get it to stop! I know we have a while to go but I have researched every meathod amd been trying to put them into practice as much as possible!! I started using the spray bottle and that has helped reinforce my commands but she is very stubborn! Lol she is the worst when she is getting tired and her nips really begin to hurt. I usually put her in her cage when she starts snorting and snarling because that's usually when she is getting pretty worn out. Has anyone else experienced that behavior with their puppy or is that just our crazy Lulu GRace? Lol

RE: Treats
I have been using "Mini Train-Me!" and our basenji LOVES THEM! We have the chicken flavor but their are other flavors as well! you can find it on amazon and Walmart. It is in a yellow package.

Cuddle bug 🐜
Hello everyone! I got my new baby last week and have learned lots of things about me and her this last couple of days! Lol. She has been a very nice addition to the family, she is sweet (when she is tired) playful, utterly cuddly (which is so sweet) and very attached! I just had a few questions about the breed that I can't really seem to find online. Will they always be so cuddly and attached or is this something they grow out of? Are they good with multiple people or do they attach more to one person? Also anything else interesting or you have experienced would be nice to know! I have read up on this breed a lot but sadly I only really come across negative things :(. Although our Lulu Grace is a handful she is such a sweetie when she wants to be! Thank you!

RE: Puppy biting
That is just the stage that she is in right now! They explore everything with their mouth, like children, and it really won't be letting up until she is around 6months or so! I have been saying 'no bites' to my girl and take her away from that area and give her her favorite toy. If she is biting me I will put her down and tell her no and walk away. I will also spritz her with water when she is biting something really bad like my shoes :(! That seems to be working, but it will take time because she is so young! Just be patient with her and reward her lots when she is doing good. As for your other dog, she will let the puppy know when she doesn't like what she is doing!
Good Luck and I hope this helped some! It's an awesome time because they are so darn cute, but it is very frustrating also! -
RE: Jasmine
Very cute! Mine is 9 weeks and nipping EVERYTHING! She is learning but I am definitely having to pray for patience! Good Luck!
