Baloo is doing fine, he loves the snow and ice and has a few "dog" buddies here in the neighborhood. He weighs in at 31#lbs. now. Baloo is becoming a great friend.Happy Thanksgiving everyone ! you can veiw Baloo's pics in the pic forum look under Mitt.

Pat thats his couch now. But he does share it with us.He also gets his share of the bed at night.He never had a chance to experiance what close human contact was, he has now, and when he needs moved he is like a sack of potatos,he is limp like a wet dish towle.I think he enjoys it! I would also like to mention here that I have read a few posts about BRAT and the way things get handled at BRAT. I can tell all of you that this organization is FIRMLY commited to doing what is right for the placement of thier rescues. I know about the Fanconi syndrome and will have Baloo tested when he sees the vet.I have lived a blessed life and I have had my share of problems.I know this much life does not come with guarentees and any pet is subject to that as well.We all need to do the best we can,and when someone sees us falling short of that goal we need to ask ourselves how we can contribute a plan to correct it instead of hurling complaints at one another.We as humans all need to be heard and aknowledged for what we have to say.And we on the recieving end of a ideal or statement need to aknowledged as well, but in the end we all need to respect our own and other's point of view.

When I first posted to this forum I wanted to find a healthy pup.A Great Gal by the name Sharron Hurlbut suggested that I contact BRAT. I did and before I knew it I was in contact about several Basenji's.I filled out the application had a home visit talked hours to Barbara McShea about this brindle named Baloo.Well to make a long story short, Baloo, the BRAT rescue is at his forever home with his new family.He is the coolest looking and most dearful Basenji we have ever seen! I have to Thank BRAT,Barbara McShea.Sharron Hurlbut,Carrol[home visit] my Michigan BRAT Co-Ord and the countless people that make BRAT what it is and everyone that has responded to my threads here at Basenji forums. This is truley a success story of a BRAT rescue.I would encourage anyone looking for a Basenji to look into BRAT. These beautiful little creatures need homes and it is up to us as loving caring people to make sure that we do all we can for any pup needing a quality life.BOB BARKER would be proud for that I am sure.

Baloo home after a very long flight


tHANX FOR THE INFO. i WAS WANTING ANOTHER b DOWN THE ROAD FOR bALOO TO HAVE A PLAYMATE.i WAS LOOKING FOR ANOTHER DOWN THE ROAD IN 3-4 MONTHS TIME PERIOD. i FEEL THAT WILL GIVE bALOO THE TIME HE NEEDS TO ADJUST TO US AND US TO HIM.His flight was delayed yesterday so we are picking him up today.And that would only be if Baloo requires a playmate.I believe we can suply the stimulus for him but I want to be prepared incase we need a pal here in the house with him.

Pat I posted at your website about a pup for Baloo. have any B's up for adoption?

His foster says hes put on moere weight and is at 30#lbs. She thinks he will look better at 35#lbs. that is huge for a "B" I have some recent pics of him at 30# and he is very lean

Sharron i will post pics on the weekend. We will be picking him up from the airport friday. If he is up for it we will be stopping at the local petsmart to show him off and get some toys.

The forum has been a little weird and gnarly the last few days and I thought: "Troll? This guy has been putting us on? So where is Baloo?" Then I realized it's an MI term. Whew!

Baloo is with a member of BRAT getting ready to fly into the local airport to us.He will be comming in this Friday!

It took awhile and they are very thurough in their placements. But they have to be to make sure that Baloo got his Forever home.I feel that it is a good process,they take the time to let you in on all the particulars of the specific "B" that you may want.They also want to make sure you know what you are doing to.I feel less scurtiny would not be a good ideal.They truly want their placements to be solid .I respect that.

Another Baloo update,Baloo is being flown in from D.C this friday .We are stoked! So we will be posting pics shortly.This is a Shinning example of people comming together to make a "B" happy and wanted.B.R.A.T has to be commended for thier efforts .Volenteers to board members have put in lots of hours to make sure Baloo was headed to his "FOREVER HOME". Barb McShea gets a special thanks for her diligence and persurverance over Baloo's placement.Thanx also goes to Sharron Hurlbut for getting me invoved with BRAT.I am going to be the Basenji guy here in northern Michigan.When a familiy needs a home visit for a Basenji adoption thru BRAT My wife and I will do the visit on behalf of BRAT. Good news, we are getting a BRAT rescue,his name is BALLOO he is the fetured "B" at the BRAT web site.We are thrilled and cant wait. Thanx goes to the dedicated group of people at BRAT for all their time and patience.A special thanx to Carroll who come a long way to do a a house check.She does not have "B"s but as a favor did the visit.Carroll is a Borizi breeder from the Traverse City Michigan area.A H-U-G-E Thank you to all involved.Tim and Rebecca Prodan

Just a quick note to let everyone know that Balloo is starting the proccess to come to his forever home! We are all excited and cant wait.I will be putting out the monster basted cow leg bones, kong and knylabones. He will have his own spot for feedings and WILL have a run of the house and WILL sleep on my bed by my wife and I.Thanx to all the folks here and at BRAT for this success story.Tim and Rebecca Prodan.P.S. will post pics here to show off!!!!!!
