@tanza, @DebraDownSouth, I spoke to my vet. He told me to look into Orijen Adult Grain-Free Dry Dog Food. It looks like a good option, but since the both of you are more experienced with this breed, I would love your opinions. My breeder said that it is a wonderful food as well. If you guys say it's a better option, I will purchase it right away. With that being said, how do you suggest i transition my Basenji to it? This will now be her third food in a couple of months. Thank you for your assistance! You have been very helpful!

@DebraDownSouth, luckily the kennel I am looking into informed me that I can get a waiver from my vet, so hopefully he will assist me in that matter! Thanks!

@tanza, it is good to see that quite a few Basenji owners have this "walking" trait, it's relieving! Regarding her poop, it has been watery for about 3 weeks. She was eating Fromm Puppy Gold,. My breeder told me to transition to adult food around 6 months. I will look into the Probiotic! Thanks !

@DebraDownSouth, I plan on telling my vet that it didn't work. Can you suggest any specific brand that carries no grain and low fiber? If not I can always google it and do some research! Thanks!

In about a month I am going to China on business and I am looking for a kennel in my area (Westchester, NY). I have found one that I really like, however, they require the canine influenza vaccine (most of the kennels in the area do). I asked my breeder first and she told me not to get it done due to the fact that basenjis are sensitive to it. I have been doing some research and it looks like some owners get it and others don't. My vet said that it is up to me. I am just trying to see if I should get it or not because I need enough time between both shots. Any suggestions?

Hi all, my 4 month old Basenji puppy seems to be having some poop problems. Whenever she poops, she walks all over the place. When I try to make her stay still, it is like she cant push it out. Her poop is for the most part is very watery. We have done two stool samples, both with negative results. At first, she was on Fromm Puppy Gold, now the vet has her on Hills Canine ID Prescription food. Any suggestions?

@eeeefarm, thank you so much for your response! That is what I am currently working on, distraction with either her favorite toy or bone. It seems to be working. I also removed her toys from her so that when she does get it, she sees it as a reward, do you think that is a good idea? Regarding the growling, very good idea, and it makes sense. I don't want her to realize that she is dominant because then that will be an issue. I will try your idea and continue holding her. I will post a reply after about a week to let you know the results. Once again, thank you!

@tanza, thank you very much for your reply. Her breeder is Lisa Simmons, from Albany, NY. I will reach out to her, Lisa is always very helpful, I just thought I would see what people suggested on this forum. I am currently looking for puppy classes and basic obedience classes. Thank you for your help!

This is Scout, my Red and White beautiful girl! She is just under 4 months old and an amazing dog! She has finally started to get the hang of going to the bathroom outside, except for the occasional accident if she gets too excited. I am from the Westchester, NY area, and I am looking for basic obediance trainers. I am having some small issues with play fighting that turns a little too rough, as well as biting walls. She is also starting to growl and get aggressive when she is being held, any assistance is greatly appreciated!
