Can anyone help please. I have 9 years old boy , Freddie who has IBS. The vet gave this diagnosis few weeks ago after tests. Blood, poop, ultra sound scan. Nothing found, no infection. But his poo is so up n down. 4 days or so firmish, then back to cow pat! He's not having anything to eat other than chappie as he won't eat the royal canin. No treats at all, not even his teeth cleaner as it's liver flavour. But now she's not mean on chappie, he was eating it if I made a soup out of it. But he's lost more weight. He's 8.5 today..has been 8.8 kg for few weeks but although he's eating he's not gaining weight. It's such a worry. The vet see him every 3 or4 weeks to check him over . He goes again Tuesday..but 8.5 is very low, he's always been a good size 10 kg.
Could stress have caused the IBS ? I'm going to ask vet Tuesday. Looking back on last years season dates. He suffered really badly. Wolf howling even when we were in with him and on walks it was nose down, licking and sniffing every blade of grass...

Does anyone have any idea as I'm at a loss. He's happy most of the time and plays, his tail is down quite a lot tho so ... excuse the gabbling but I don't know what to do next

Hi Becca. I'm wanting to change foods too. For years I have fed my 2 basenjis on my local butchers meat. But it's mainly offal. And that's worrying me after reading too much offal isn't healthy. I mix with mixed vegs and they love.

Hi, we have 2 basenji boys. Eldest never poos in garden. Except emergencies..... Our 2nd did poo for a year or two at first. But suddenly realised his brother doesn't. So.... Now he won't.. So walks it is. They go on morning walk. 7am ish. And ask#, around 4.30 for another. I can set my watch by second poop... 😂

I think I have found a way.!? Go to setting. Scroll right down and Un tick your e mail and anything else. I only hope it works as it's driving me nuts. Lol

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm thank you for your reply. the dog we have is 22months so will be just over 2 yrs when puppy arrives.he is the kindest dog you will ever meet, so gentle and loving. He has been in contact with puppies from the last litter and gets on realy well. my breeder does take care to match personalities. the only thing with trials is that you get stuck in the ahhhhhh factor and fall in love lol…

i was told recently…...that the basenji has the abillity to absorb itsown urine hence the lack of needing to pee often has anyone heard or read such a thing? it was from a reputable breeder.........????????????????

my boy only pees on average twice a day. alot of little pees on walks (markings realy).. he doesnt drink alot either we have to encourage him by adding water to his food other wise his water bowl goes untouched

wingco is my second dog,( first one passed on year ago.) and have never had a female... i do worry about mistakes but......think it will be worth it. i have to decide as the `mother is in season now.. just afraid of upsetting the apple cart realy as our boy is so very perfect and gives us no trouble at all. no chewing even lol.he is gentle and the thought of them living seperate lives does not appeal at all. as i said i want free running dogs, as although i do show, i want pets firstly..

i got my boy to "sing " by mistake…..lol. i was going through a web site called singing dogs ( basenji) and turned it up loud and guess what it got my boy singing along with the dog on line.... what a noise but worth it..

hi, i have bored everyone i know with this subject but…........ i dont want to make a mistake so am looking for advice from all you basenji owners and lovers.

i have a lovely natured 22mth old boy, he is "free range" in the home which is how i want and like it. my problem comes to light because i want a friend for him.Do i get a girlie or another boy.? have heard so much about boys scrapping as they age. i dont want to have to crate and separate any dogs 1, we havnt the space
2, not how i want to live.
do any of you have experience of bringing a boy into the home and , do they get on ok? can anyone put my mind at rest.........once and for all because we need to decide this season lol....time is runnin out..:)

Isnt it amazing how they all follow the same sleeping habit….....

my boy also sleeps under the duvet….....and on top when he gets too hot. nice in winter but a pain in summer...lol..
our boy hasnt got the knack yet of finding his way back down under the covers after his spell on top.....he paws me, and grunts quietly i lift the covers ,say, IN and in he crawls funny for a while but the continual pawing does wake us alot...............but, he`s worth it.

hello all, can anyone give tips on how to strengthen weak pasterns? i have been told once again by the judge that my 21 mth old has weak pasterns.he gets a good deal of running, on and off the lead, but does anyone elsefind any particular excersise help with this problem?:).
