RE: Help with stitches
got a longer e-collar today. if she pulls the stitch again the vet want to use surgical glue on it. don't understand why they didn't use that to begin with. now it is just a matter of getting my husband to comply. i honestly feel that this is just as bad as dealing with a kid who has a cast and wants to pick at it every chance when parents are paying attention

Help with stitches
Cammie had surgery on friday. she had a growth removed from her left rear leg. we have tried everything to keep her from licking and chewing at her stitches: eye collars, chew guard spray, socks, bandages, socks and bandages sprayed with things that she doesn't like. crating her just gives her a captive audience for chewing at it. I have to work during the day and my husband works nights so he has to sleep during the day. I've tried what I believe to be everything short of a muzzle and drugs to make her sleep. both of which I prefer not to do. any body else have any suggestion?

RE: WANTED FEMALE Basenji for southern ohio family
http://www.puppyfind.com/
this is the correct web page that has the gumby in waverly however gumby is a boy; we found our rescue on petfinder.com and she still cost us $200 from the warren county shelter. CarolAnn was very helpful in answering questions we had once we adopted Cammie. I would definitely considering driving up to CarolAnn's. -

RE: This girl belongs in the oval office!
I sent and email congratulating Obama and suggested that they look at the BRAT website. I actually got a reply with 24 hrs and it wasn't the canned response stating that they were considering all breeds.:)

RE: Doggie clothes…
I think it just depends on the manufacturer of the clothes. We have found that Cammie is 16 inches long and a girth of 19-20. We tend to buy her a Large. The mediums seem to be to tight when trying to get her legs in.

RE: Test Strips anyone?
How often should you test strip? We just rescued Cammie 10 weeks ago. She was tested at the shelter on 7/1/08 and at the vet on 7/12/08. I have no way of knowing whether or not her dna has ever been submitted since she was rescued. I've thought about doing the dna test.

RE: Scarlett's first baroo!
Mine barks in her sleep; short little snips and her feet look like they are running. she's sound asleep. I too just pat her and go back to sleep. I'd love to know what she's dreaming about.

RE: Animal Planet's Breed All About It: Basenji Episode
Went to the link that had been posted but is only 2:45 in length; the entire program with commercials is 60 minutes. probably without commericials it is 30-40 minutes in length and this is what I had requested from animal planet to purchase.

RE: Nodules
Keep us posted on the results. Cammie has one on the inside of her rear left leg about the size of a quarter and we've been told its nothing to worry about it. some days its thicker than others. she came to us as a rescue with it. so the vet at the shelter and her new vet both have said not to worry. it doesn't seem to bother her with walking, running or jumping up or down. I would be interested in what the results are.
She also came with a brown nodule on her neck which at first looked like a large mole about the size of a dime. since we have had her about 2 months, it has slowly disappeared. Our vet said that these tend to come and go and again nothing to worry about.

Animal Planet's Breed All About It: Basenji Episode
Hey, back in August the Animal Planet's Breed All About It: Basenji episode aired. We had the dvr set to record and wouldn't you know it our cable provider switched the programming and it didn't show. so we missed the episode. I contacted Animal Planet about purchasing the episode. Below is the response I got. As Basenji Owners, I suggest each of us email them using the webform at www.customercare.discovery.com requesting that it be made available for purchase.:)

Cicada aka Locust Hunting
Any one know anything about basenji's liking to hunt, root, and eat cicada?
We have a rescue, Cammie, 2 months today. for the past 2-3 days the cicada are swarming and when I walk her she roots around the trees and before I know she's caught one and ate it!!!! Today, she did a vertical jump of 2-3 feet trying to catch one as it flew by us. She was so preoccupied with them that she wouldn't even potty. I figure this must be an ancient breed instinct; maybe that is why they were gifts to the egyptians - to help get rid of the cicadas after God swarmed egypt with them. any thoughts and ways to keep her from doing it would be appreciated. i try very hard to keep an eye on her when she starts rooting but sometimes she is just tooooooooooo fast!!!!!!!!!!! -
RE: Pic of newbie in chilli
Ok I finally figured out how to get photos uploaded so I have added some pics of Cammie's life with us over the past 2 months. It is hard to believe we have had her that long already. Each day is a delight - you never know what funny look you're going to get.

RE: Car harness
Cammie chewed thru hers in less than 1 minute!!! I bought the exact same harness at Complete Petmart for $25, which I feel like I wasted.
Does anyone know of a leash they can't chew thru? We are on our 3rd leash.
