The looks i expect and ill even laugh with them cause she does look comical … but i wont take away her enjoyment ... I actully put them on and they are comfortable ... and ide be happy to explain she has a condiction and that they should everyday look into thier babies eyes and make sure that they are clear ...

they come in alot of colors and a few differnt styles … It's a matter of getting her used to wearing them now. Once we achieve that i think ill get her a few colors that match her assortment of collars and sweaters. I almost think she associates them with the muzzle the vet puts on her cause they go back behind the ears and under the chin to stay on.

Sandies eye discharge was white clear and quite thick … inspect the eye itsself and see if the white's are red ... thats inflamation and needs attention. Im a lil preturbed at my reg vet for not sending me to the eye specialist on Sandies first round of eye problems ...

I think she hates them

I first took her to my regular vet she sent me to a certified ophth. vet. for a second opinion… my regular vet thought it was a ulcer which was what sandie was treated for the first time in Aug. She goes back for a recheck on the 31st .... i went on amazon.com and found the ointment i was given for nightly .. and orderd a 6 pack of it. also bought her a pink pair of Doggles which she isnt very fond of but like any thing else new to her she will get used to it ...

I would take her to see a animal eye dr … If it doesnt clear up soon.

Oklahoma requires it yearly .. with Sandie she gets a lump bout the size of a nickle .. the vet adds something to the shot thats supossed to help that not happen. Her first puppy shot the lump stayed for a long time … but since the additive it last now a few weeks.

Sandie is a mix Basenji/Rodesian … And i dont know who the breeder was ... I was wanting information on it ... the good the bad and the ugly ... the vet made it sound like a life long struggle of eye meds and a ointment to use daily ...

I think this was sandies first time to really see it … we dont really get much snow in central oklahoma ....

Sandie was diagnosed with Pannas today …. It all started in Aug. 2012 when i noticed a white lession on her eye ... that eye had a lot of discharge also... i got her in to see the vet that same day. At that time the vet checked her for a ulcer using the stain and a light and set her a surgery appoinment to scrape the ulcer off ... I have been using a drop in that eye since then and finally now it is healing. Late friday night i notice the discharge in the other eye and upon inspecting it i see the small redish white raised formation in her eye, called the vet first thing Saturday morning, set an appointment for today (monday) she sent me to see a eye specialist to get a second opinion ...I was able to get in to see the eye specialist today and she said with out a doubt its Pannas.
It is a immune disorder where her eye is attacking itself, she will have to take eye drops the rest of her life to control the lessions, avoid bright sun, and no more riding with the windows down in the car and her head hanging out unless she has on goggles ... i dont know if she will get used to the goggles she hates things on her head.
Mostly i wanted to share this so everyone is aware if you see any thing that resembles a catarac or lession on the eye please get it checked it could be a ulcer or pannas either of which causes blindness if not treated in time.

Dear Dogs and Cats, The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate of food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.

For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom. If by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years–canine or feline attendance is not mandatory.

The proper order is kiss me, then go smell the other dog or cat's butt. I cannot stress this enough!

To pacify you, my dear pets, I have posted the following message on our front door:

awww … poor lil guy !!! Can u not crate Rafiki when your away for short periods of time...that way he will be safe inside your home ? Maybe try putting a worn t-shirt in the crate. Now is a great age to start crate training.
My Sandie has run of the house and yard when we are home, or not going to be gone for long. But any thing over a hour we crate her for her safety as well as coming home to a house not destroyed by her.

I thought Tucker looked rather like a "B"mix too….

I have noticed that when Sandie is let out front or even when we are walking the neighborhood that she loves to smell the mail boxes, and remark the places i know are places males have been. Its not even a full squat like females do just a half way squat and a short squirt.
She also does this in the hall way to my husbands shop ( thank god that area is tile) if he locks her out from going with him. She does not do this in any other part of the house. I was just wondering if its a act of dominanace.
Also kinna off subject but it there a foot spay out to use to clean feet, I wash her feet but they stink still, hate to say it again but it smella like fritos.

Sandies pads are normal… i had read a article about the pads being that of a jackle quite some time ago... now i see not even all basenji's have this unique pad...
Had to comment on the feet smelling like frito's.. this i had to laugh about, since i complain about sandies feet stinking like that also... i wash them and in no time the smell is back...
also i was wondering i notice most "B's" toenails are white... sandies is both white and black, but since shes a mix i figure its because of that...

Is funny how sandie looks like a B.. acts like a B.. makes the noises of B's
stinky feet evidently like b's... Basenji must have been the domainate breed in her situation...too bad she didnt retain the small statue of the basenji... i guess she got the size from her dad... grrrrrrrr... If only i knew what he was

Thanks its good to be back …. Ill be posting more pictures soon as i get my digital camera.. i took that one with my cell phone it takes ok pictures but ....
We will be taking Sandie with us on vacation...since we cant leave her home and she cant stay with a sitter... and bording her is out of the question... (husband freaks out at the mention she will alone at night) any sugestions ?

but this is probably my favorite of her baby pics even if i almost cried when her ears went flopppppppp…..
