Alright, so my friend is moving to Chicago and can't keep her pet Penelope anymore as her swanky apt wont allow pets. I volunteered to watch Penelope the Chihuahua until we can find her a good loving home. I was super worried that Roxy would eat her…Turns out, Roxy LOVES her and wants to share EVERYTHING with her...Penelope, not so much. Bit her 3 times and won't stop growling at her...I dont know what to do. Roxy is now TERRIFIED to go near her and keeps looking at me like "Mom...I want it out!"...I feel bad but on the other hand this poor dog is homeless! ANY IDEAS?!

RE: She bit a frog! HELP!
Thanks so much. I watched her for most of the night, she was just her usual self. Looking at me like "what DO you need?" This morning she had her breakfast and water as usual but when we went outside she was not even remotely interested in looking for last nights hoppity friend. Im really glad she didnt get sick. I worried because there are so many toads in Florida and Ive heard of dogs dying from it. Im glad Im not the only one with a crazy B. I was shocked that she actually dropped it, although thinking about it she did look at me like "WHAT?! IT HOPS!" haha I love her, even when she scares me half to death. Your stories made me giggle. Im sure Ill laugh about this one soon.

She bit a frog! HELP!
Ok, Roxy and I went for our night time walk, I live in South Florida, and 5 minutes into it out of nowhere she lunges forward and has something in her mouth. I looked down its a frog. I immediately yelled "drop it!" and she did. The frog hopped away. Ive been watching her for the past 30 minutes and rinsed her mouth out with a hose. Shes not foaming at the mouth or anything but Im stille concerned. I called the Vet ER here and they said if anything changes to bring her in. Anyone else's pup done this? What did you do? Anything more I can do!? Help!!!

RE: Roxy's stubborn!
You know, it kind of makes me laugh, because she looks at me like "uhmm….I thought about it, and no, no I will not do that..." and If she sees a treat and she doesnt do the command she still wants the treat so she starts to "baroo" at me! I think she thinks shes MY mom!

RE: Roxy's stubborn!
I find that those little dog sausages are her favorite. She loves those things. I guess Im going to have to get used to her stubborn ways. I was thinking about putting a bunch of treat bags in various places in the house that way no matter where I am I can always reach for a treat….good idea?

Roxy's stubborn!
HELP Me, she's more stubborn than I am!!!
I have a 4 year old Basenji named Roxy. Shes a sweet and loving girl (when she wants to be cuddled) and she really is the shining light of my day, but shes so stubborn! I have been able to teach her commands such as ,sit, down, leave it, trade, high 5, and speak. She's really very smart and she picks up VERY quickly, almost TOO quickly. That all sounds good and dandy except she never does things I ask her to do when I tell her to do them. I know she CAN, I just dont think she WANTS to! Shouldn't my DOG want to please her owner?! She seems to ….have to think about it first. It's as if she's deciding if it's worth her while! She tends to only do things if shes getting a treat in return! If she doesnt do it I do tend to repeat myself and that just makes her chuckle, I swear she's laughing at me in her mind. I try getting louder and she just ignores me or looks at me like "yeah right mom you and what army?!" I am getting so frustrated and Ive tried everything, dog trainers, daily sessions, etc she just doesnt feel like listening to me, oh and crate?! yeah RIGHT, she's learned how to open it and get out when Im not home. Does anyone have any ideas?
