The underlying skin is black. Nulla is 3 and 1/2. We are going to take her to the vet. We've been looking at pictures and it is incredibly noticeable the difference. She has no hair loss anywhere else on her body…

Nose Hair Loss
I am writing about my dog Nulla. Recently we noticed that the tip of her nose has lost most of the hair growing on it. She hasn't had any accident or episode to her nose. She hasn't been outside for prolonged periods of time (it is cold here!) I am not sure what to think of it. We haven't been to the vet about it yet. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else's B?
Thanks!

RE: Rabies Shots
My B has never had a reaction to vaccinations. She does however scream when she gets her rabies shot. It brings tears to my eyes and I hug her tight. Awww.

No symptoms?
Hello,
Could a B have fanconi with no symptoms?
Thanks.

RE: Teeth cleaning
This thread is huge! I can't even follow it all..
My B is almost 2 years old and has no tartar build up and usually pretty good smelling breath. I clean her teeth (with a brush) usually once or twice a week. She has lots of bones and things as well. When should I expect to have to get her teeth cleaned? What if I take care of her teeth well for the rest of her life, should I ever have to expect to get this done? Seems like a lot of money but definitely something I am willing to do if she needs it. Right now, the vet said her mouth looks very healthy and clean.

Rat terriers
Hello!
I was in Vancouver a few months ago and saw what I thought FOR SURE was a basenji. We followed it around from a distance and it acted exactly like my B-pulling at the leash, flipping about, sniffing everything/everyone in sight, and had the same temperament exactly as my B. We approached the owners after much enjoyment of watching what we thought was a B only to find out that it was a rat terrier! How could this be!? Exact same tail, red and white color, ears and wrinkly brow. I was shocked. I still secretly think they are confused and are in fact the owners of a B. hehe

RE: Zoni's Informal Family Photos
I love the last photo. More and more I think we'd like to get a black and white B! They are gorgeous.

RE: Martingale Collars
Does anyone know a good site to buy a martingale that ships in Canada?

RE: Duna ran off for the first time!!!
I cannot leave my B off leash AT ALL. She ran away the other day (door flew open from the wind) and it was about 15 minutes later before we noticed. She was GONE. We live in a new area on the edge of the city so I was extremely worried about coyotes and cars. Luckily we found her after about an hour. She got into someone's back yard and was playing with another dog. It is a frustrating trait that B's have. I WISH WISH WISH I could trust Nulla off leash. It is truly disappointing that we can't. In all other ways I think she views us as the pack leader but if in an open space she won't come back if there is something more fun to check out.

RE: New Pup Shopping List (Gulp!)
Most breeders will supply a lot of things with the puppy. For instance, I supply collar, lead, food bowl, soft toy, chew toy, piece of bedding, small quantity of food, jumper (although not quite as cool as TopGun) etc. Breeders vary but most will supply a few things. A nice bed (basenji proof of course), maybe a crate if you are going to crate train him/her and a few extra toys should be all you need to buy to start with. It is really easy to buy too much and spoil them though. Puppies should come with 6 weeks free KC insurance should that will help also.
I'm just curious what beds are basenji proof???
