Unfortunately i missed todays meetup, count on me to be there next month!. Do i have to sign up anywhere? Do you email me where to go or will it be on that website?

RE: What do you think about this name??
Well so far it's pretty easy saying Dexy. And I'm glad you like the name haha, I think she's beautiful aswell

RE: What do you think about this name??
@stash:
Dexy is a lovely happy name, our boy is Kaiser which has been shortened to Kai which becomes KaiKai in a happy tone to get him to recall(haha sort of recall). Enjoy your girl she looks like a snuggle bug and people who say they aren't intelligent obviously never had a Basenji or think they aren't because they are smart enough to choose whether to obey or not, I would say they don't have slave obedience but respect obedience if you get what I mean.
Jolanda and Kaiser
Thanks, yea i think eventually everyone will just call her Dex. I want to take her out for a walk so badly already but im waiting for her to get all her vaccinations. For now i walk her around in my fenced backyard with a leash

RE: What do you think about this name??
Just wanted to let you know, i have decided to name her Dexy. Although i like Bandit more, i called her Bandit for today, and i felt it was too difficult to pronounce. I know it sounds stupid but i feel like a dogs name should be flow out the mouth a little easier. Although i think my registered name is going to be 4-eyed Bandit because it has spots above its eyes that look like glasses haha. Here are the pics i promised.

RE: What do you think about this name??
right, from the beginning my mom told me that the name is MY decision and whatever i name it will be fine. And I am the first person to see it in the morning after it slept. I wake up an hour earlier before school so i have time to play it. minor sacrifice for all the happiness she brings me. I'm not sure why people say the Basenji breed is not intelligent. The second day after an 8 hour trip into a new brand new environment, i already taught her how to sit. I think they are very smart dogs.

RE: What do you think about this name??
Yea my dad comes home after a couple of hours after I leave and he lets him out of the crate and plays with him. Then when he leaves my sister wakes up and plays with him. Then 2 hours after she leaves I come home from schools, so she's not in the crate for too long. Only at night, she stays in the crate for 5-6 hours at night. Btw, do u guys recommended putting her litter box in the crate. She's already potty trained and knows that she has to go in the box. The crate we have is way to big and I don't wanna give her too much space.

RE: What do you think about this name??
I think I am going to name her bandit. I'd like to hear other creative names that you heard. Some dog names are really interesting!

You think so? I really want to upload some pictures but I'm in school haha. I put her in a crate for the night and she cried and screamed all night I felt so bad.

I got from spring willow, Laurie Owen is her name. She's really nice, shows her dogs, and health certifies all of them. I drove 8 hours to ohio to get the dog!

What do you think about this name??
I just bought a basenji yesterday, she's 13 weeks old. I was planning on buying a male and naming him Dexter. Since I got a girl I was gunna name her Dexy. When I got her, I couldn't help but notice she looks exactly like a little bandit. Not only that, but as soon as we brought her home, she acted like one too. Sneaking around the house and causing mischief. I want to name her bandit so bad because it's perfect for her, but I feel like bandit is too masculine. What do you think, I will upload pictures as soon as I get home.

RE: Thinking about getting a Basenji, need help!!
I don't know who she is but a quick search is showing me that she tests and shows her dogs. She is also listed on the BCOA page. I'd still look up OFA info on the parents but she seems legit.
Wait who are you talking about?

After much thought, ive figured everything out and im ready to buy the puppy as soon as possible. I checked the rescue already and none of them have young enough puppies. My limit is i guess 15 weeks. I'd love some updated breeders that you guys recommened. I check Jean out but her email doesnt work so i cant contact her. Recommend me some websites guys! RE: Thinking about getting a Basenji, need help!!
the adults and pups that came into CBR on Christmas day have not been posted to the website. the adults have not been evaluated and the puppies (7, i think) are too young to leave the mommas (2 moms). I find often rescues have not listed all the dogs for different reasons.
I'd also suggest you expand your age range especially if you're set on the June date of arrival. THE very best dog i've ever owned or ever will own, I got as a 10 month old puppy. He was housebroken, socialized, leash trained and a pure delight. He was my first competition dog and he and I proceeded to rack up over 30 titles before and after his name and we got to spend 16 wonderful years with each other. I understand the pull and attraction of a young puppy, honestly, but I'd hate for you to miss out on your once-in-a-life time dog because he or she was a few months too old.
Puppies are extremely cute and the thought of having one running around gets me so excited. I guess im being a little immature and selfish about this and i need to broaden my age range.
