no- antibiotics (for a bacterial infection) would not clear up a yeast infection as it is a fungal infection. You may see some improvement but not a complete cure. You would need an antifungal for a yeast infection.

RE: Do you put a coat or sweater on your Basenji?
both of our boys tend to shiver in the winters around here (CT) so they love wearing their sweaters whenever possible, especially if the temperature is below 35!

New Haven County CT Basenjis
We know you are out there… we have seen a few of you around the neighborhood. We would like you to come out and play as soon as the snow is gone

Scratching & itching like crazy!
Can someone please help? Lewie has started scratching himself with his hind feet to right behind his shoulders… He seems to itch so much that he frequently has to scratch in mid-walk... It seems like it's really bothering him. There is nothing on his skin and no fleas (knock on wood)... We haven't changed food or treats recently, so I'm not really suspect of that. I don't really want to give him medication unless it's the last resort.
Ideas?

RE: Weird Positions
Those last 2 look like she woke up with an awful "crick" in her neck
My I submit this for evidence that it must be a Baseji thing?:

RE: Basenji groups in NY/CT?
So are we all down for meeting in Shelton? That would definitely be a better trip for us…
Muzz??
MavericksMom?
We don't want to end up being the only basenji there

RE: Hope has a new B friend!
Yay for Basenji play!! We had a similar experience when Lewie met his first Basenji buddy- they play together unlike I've ever seen…

RE: Finally settled in (pic heavy)

RE: Lewie's 1st summer adventures *Pic heavy*
Great pics! Especially the ones with my Greta in them! I miss you Lewie! So does Greta!
We miss you guys too! We'll be back at the park either the end of this week or next week. We're watching my sister's dog- and she doesn't do well with others… So its a hiatus from the park for us until she gets back.

Lewie's 1st summer adventures *Pic heavy*
I am a horrible mom and never upload/download the pictures from my camera for all to see. Well, now that it's finally fall and Lewie is 9 months old, I thought a summer recap would work pretty well Sorry for all the photos, but I feel the need to brag about my baby!!
Heading to 4th of July fireworks at the town beach. Don't I look swell in my patriotic bandanna?
Sitting pretty during a walk:
Off leash for the first time. Mommy says I did great and I even got a special treat!!
My favorite time of the day: napping with Daddy!
Like Father, like son:
Oddly comfortable. You should try it:
Can you spot the basenji?
Camping… Mommy needs to bring 3 chairs where ever she goes. One for Mommy, one for Daddy, and one for ME!
Camping is hard work:
Fishing!
Can you believe that 10 seconds after this photo I jumped right in? I guess I forgot that I hate water!!
I picked the smallest pillow to nap on:
Meeting my new girlfriend- Greta:
I love her, even though she picks on me:
See- isn't she pretty? Just my type:

RE: Basenji groups in NY/CT?
I would definitely prefer fenced as Lewie has a special place in his little basenji heart for motorcycles… Do either of you know a place that somewhere between our locations? Seems to be about 1 hr to all the parks Maverick's Mom has suggested...

RE: Basenji groups in NY/CT?
Lewie is not available on the 8th (family thing…) but the 9th might work out. Let me check with Lewie's daddy to be sure...

RE: Where does your basenji sleep?
I've been watching this thread for a few days now and am not surprised by the number of responses…
Our little guy sleeps in our bed, but still in his own little bed at the foot. Sometimes in the morning when his Daddy gets to go into work late, he gets a "bed-ride" to the top to cuddle. Lewie can totally tell when one of us needs actual furry cuddles, because on those nights, he forgoes his bed entirely and sleeps between us, all curled up... until he decides to stretch- at which point one of us will get out stretched paws to the chest...
When we go camping, he sleep inside the sleeping bag at the foot of the bed... I personally think he likes this arrangement the best

sounds like long past time to Basenji proof your home for this little one

RE: Need your opinions - is this training method okay?
So, for now, we are going to perfect what we have been working on to date, in addition to things we have not done yet. One new thing we will work on is shaking the Poochie Bells when he wants to go outside. I got them earlier this week and I'm going to make the training fun with lots of positive reinforcement.
We have had the "poochie bells" since Lewie was only a few months old. He was easily trained to ring them. We used to take him out every 1.5 hours and before we would open the door, we would say "out" and shake the bells. He quickly associated the door with both the word "out" and the bell and now rings every time he needs to go out (although he does occasionally abuse his power by ringing them when he knows we are about to leave). FYI: Lewie is only 9 months old…

RE: Dog food
thanks , i will be doing this then!, & go on a schedule feeding!!.
& no grain in food!. boy they are sooo different then other dogs!!.Agreed- personality wise these pups a certainly gems… but no dogs should be "free fed" in a captive situation. Standard meal times aid in their digestion and energy levels. (plus it helps with the potty training/ crate training too)

RE: Basenji groups in NY/CT?
Hello!!! I would like to say that I think the little Basenji playdate went well- Lewie is snuggled up as we speak, gently snoring on the couch…
This would be awesome to have a CT Basenji group- I always get jealous of some of pictures of larger Basenji meet-ups!!
