thank you…whew, i thought it coming out his penis was going to be something terrible.....i've been wiping his eye with a hot rag hoping that would help, you know, like when a baby has a plugged tear duct.

sound gross?…it is....there is this light green goo coming from my basenjis right eye, and the day before it was coming out his....umm, manhood.

well, he seems to be acting fine and it'll happen for like a hour and then go away for the rest of the day. it's not a ton, just enough to notice.....just wondering if you all have ever had this happen and if i should take him to the vet.

if it helps, he did eat a whole nylabone...those little rubber ones with flavoring....my aunt said she thought they were digestable but i'm still worried...and he occasionally drink from the pool and it has chlorine in it....that's the only scary things he has digested that i thought might cause this....and he's 8 months old, if that helps too (i thought maybe reaching puberty or something)

he's not blowing his coat and i haven't been giving him raw eggs…just cooked...i was afraid raw eggs might hurt him (like salmonela or something)

i'm feeding him chicken soup for the puppy...it's supposed to be some great dog food but i think i'm going to change to purina because this dog food is giving him major flatulents...seriously...he can kick us out of a room

my senji has bad dandruff…

i've tried these omega oil treats that are supposed to be good for his skin and coat and been giving him eggs for breakfast, but that doesn't seem to help....what do you all suggest

whats up with the little chewy massage thing they do to people and other dogs?….my deoji is always like biting with his very front teeth, like chewing on my aunts dogs chest...and sometimes he does it to my arm or neck....just wondering if thats some purposeful thing they do in the wild or is my dog just wierd

well, for anyone out there wondering about the end of the story…we are moving out.
it's not over my b though, like i had said, i think my dad's going through some kind of mid-life crisis and i feel it would be better for us to get out of the house. so now they don't have to deal with us or our pain in the dog :o

it's actually very liberating in a way to be forced to move out, cause now we can't use the excuse of "if we wait we'll be able to save more money"...

has anyone tried any organic dog food?….i saw some at petco and was thinking of getting it (can't remember the name...heck maybe the name was organics)

yesterday a family friend came over whom triggers has never met…he goes up to her so happy and starts wagging his tale 90 mph......he has never wagged his tail for me (or anyone) since we got him

i'm trying to excuse him by thinking since i never leave the house he's never surprised or excited to see me....but i still feel a little burned

we got our pup from the same breeder and i can deffinately tell he wasn't well socialized either…he has a total been around nothing but a pack of dogs attitude, cause he plays so rough and is very alpha male........and he also seems like there's just some people and some dogs he doesn't like...it's wierd to have such a picky dog.......he doesn't like old ladies and corgies, everyone else is cool

well he's 4 mo. so i'm sure most of it's just teething….he has lots of toys, goes on long walks, and has my aunts dog to play with......when he chews on something he's not suppoesed to i hold the back of his neck lightly and tell him drop it, then tell him good boy and leave it and he does real good with that...
i guess what i meant was chewing on our hands or jumping up and nipping during play. or when he's really excited and i try to pick him up he'll nip me all over and then run off. it's all playing, not serious biting, but he's very rough...and it's seems like if i let him chew lightly, well, give him an inch and he'll take a mile, you know.....

i'm wondering…when does the extreme chewing end...or does it ever?

my little pup won't stop...he'll stop if we put a muzzle on him for a minute, but then he's upset and gives us the cold shoulder.........we've done all the other techniques they mentioned on here and they would work for a while and then he wouldn't care and start up again (he even doesn't mind the squirt gun anymore...he'll bite at the water squirting out)

he's 4 months now and finally getting his secondarys in, but it's still a pain....

my puppy is shedding, and i was just wondering if that was normal…i had heard that puppy do not shed at all....and it's not real bad but if i pick him up i'll have lots of white hair on me. i live in las vegas nevada and it is starting to get pretty hot out here so could that be why?

so are all basenjis clumsy? mine is such a clutz….he's always falling off of things, getting stuck in things, running into things...it's really cute

although yesterday i did get a little worried because he hurt his leg (not bad)...for some reason when i'm in the backyard he likse to dash around and try to run under the patio furniture, but sometimes ends up running into it instead........he also always falls off the couch. he'll strech out in his wierd positions, or start scratching his ears and then down he goes :p he's so silly

thank you for all the suggestions…in fact my aunt just gave me one of those bully bones and it was wonderful...he just chewed on it forever. deoji finally went on a real walk today and enjoyed it too...all the other times he would just lay there. he would walk a little bit, with his head down the whole time...it's funny cause it's like he was embarrassed to be on a leash.

everybody was on board with getting a puppy, and i told them everything i read about the breed...but i don't think they really expected such a handful. my dad isn't real old, he's 54 and it kinda seems to me like he's going through a type of midlife crisis or something....like he's real moody. we've had dogs before and it was fine. he never was rude to them, and i know it'd break his heart if he actually hurt deoji............i don't know, it's wierd cause when we got the pup he was even talking about breeding them in a few years (yeah right)

i'm doing my part to keep deoji. they know i watch him like a hawk and am training him...but i told them they also need to help me avoid the problems in the first place...such as telling me when they're going to eat so i can crate him, and keeping the back room doors shut so he doesn't go back there and chew on their stuff......it's rediculous

end up getting rid of my puppy…

we live with my parents and them and deogi are just not working out...i'm walking on eggshells with them (as if just owning a b pup isn't hard enough)

i'm trying to make it work out...and if we had our own place this wouldn't even be an issue...but we can't afford an apt. and so i don't know what to do about it

they don't like how he's real active, chews (i keep an eagle eye onnhim but he has messed a few things up...nothing sewing couldn't fix but you know), and climbs on everything....these are all things we would think were cute but since they don't and it's their house, everything is now strained (not that things were all that great before the puppy either)

.....i like how deogi runs all around, dives into the couch and then bounds to the top, but my dad just gets pissed and knocks him off......i feel it's only a matter of time before deogi gets hurt, if not from his own clumsiness then from my dad just knocking him off a counter or something (my dad has become quite a grumpy old man the last 2 years)...so tonight is a sad night...i feel like all my work to get a b puppy is just flushed down the drain and become miserable......i guess i'll just give it a few more weeks and then i might have to call the breeder or something
