Yep, I spent about 3 days trying to come up with names, searching online and asking my parents and brother for names all we came up with was Olivia, so her final name will be either "One in a million" Olivia Palito or Olivia Palito "One in a million" (Olivia Palito is the portuguese name for Olive in Popeye[Palito means toothpick])
I have a few more photos of her but won't be uploading them today so maybe tomorrow I'll upload some !

The breeder told me she is family to 'Out of Africa' Basenjis, does anyone here also have a 'Out of Africa' or related ? That would be nice eheh

I like the name in itself, a few of them actually, but I also wanted to at least like the song or the band and I was almost giving up because every name I liked was from a song I didn't like that much eheh but then I found one from a song I actually know and like, just didn't came up when i thought of it so yeah I think I'll stick to it, I believe its the only name fitting for a girl, I found alot of them that would fit perfectly a B-boy but not that many for a girl, her kennel name will be "de Vila Moreira" so yeah i think Olivia 'One in a Million' de Vila Moreira fits even if I one day intend to show her.. Plus the breeder already had one of her relatives that was named like that, I don't know if that's something that's not supposed to be done but the breeder didn't seem to mind..

Hey everyone ! After 5 long days waiting, I finally went to get her and just got home with her ! I'm naming her Olivia (call name Ollie), still haven't decided on the CPC (Portuguese Kennel Club) register name but will probably be a song name and as it has to be started with 'O' the only song that fits is "One in a million" by Guns'n'Roses… She will be 5 months old in the 5th of June, so although she's not a baby anymore she's not that far from it and she is still really tiny and cute but for now she is still getting used to the environment around the house and doesn't move much, a bit scared and a bit tired from the ride home, she's now resting in my bed and hopefully wakes up a little more perky !

First, let me say 'welcome' to you Pedro. Then I have to tell you that not all pure blood B's have black noses, our little gitl, Bitty, has a dudley nose, dark brown and pink. Our second dog, an adoptee from BRAT (Basenji Rescue And Transportstion) was listed as a Basenji mix but I was totally convinced that he was all B, he had all the physical traits, tight curled tail, pointed nose and stand up ears. His chest is white as is your Neymar's with the white collar. All B's have 4 white feet and the tip of their tails are normally white. As you mentioned he has the normal wrinkles. Taking all of these points as a group your Neymar has all except fro the tail, which in my estimation would make Neymar at about 90% B. So, again, let me say welcome to another new Basenji lover.

Thanks, I'm glad that you agree ! I'm getting a pure B now to be Neymar's companion, a black and white female ! I made a thread about her on "Show of your dog" section ! As she grows up i'll manage to even more tell the differences or similarities

Eheheh Thanks for the suggestions ! For now my girlfriend and I are leaning more towards Olivia and then we can call her Ollie as a two tone word wich is more apropriate for training, but yeah I would also go for Onyx if it were for a male… Oasis is actually cool but sounds kind of odd to call in my language, the word has the same meaning in Portugal but with different pronounciation and its odd to call in ours and its also odd to be calling in another pronounciation.. But yeah still nice suggestions and I apreciate it
As I said Olivia is our nr1 choice at the moment but all suggestions are welcome as I'm still unsure about Olivia !

Eheh its quite hard to pick an 'O' starting name for a girl, especially here in Portugal, but Olivia has certainly crossed our minds !

The breeder has been breeding Basenji's since 1997 here in Portugal and she says all her dogs are tested and she never had any problem with Fanconi or other types of deseases ! The mother of the litter was imported from France and either the mother or the mother's parents are champion dogs in France ! I'm yet to know the family names and such but i have been told that her name must start with an 'O', at least thats what i understood as we only spoke on the phone ! I'm so anxious I can barely contain myself ! Wish me luck eheheh I'll defenetly keep you guys up to date on how she develops and everything she learns !

Hey everyone ! My journey with Basenj's is about to officially begin ! Having found out that my dog Neymar could possibly be a Basenji mix, I did everything in my reach to learn about the breed and subsequently to track down possible Basenji breeders in my area so I could be answered more questions I might have and even maybe meet to compare mine to a Basenji as I have never been with one in person, well I found a breeder and its possibly the only one in my entire country thats registered and began to talk about my dog and the resemblances he has with the breed, then I shared my growing interest in the breed and my intentions to get one in the future because i was really planning on saving the money to get one probably in the breeders next litter… Well, I don't know if its karma or what (because I'm a very paxionate person when it comes to dogs and I always make them my priority) but... The breeder still has a 4 month old female and she offered her to me ! So all i have to do now is wait till next tuesday because thats when she gets the last shot to be able to go out on the street and after that i can pick her up at any time ! Omg i'm so excited and i feel so honoured to be about to become a purebred Basenji owner !

Neymar who I believe to be Basenji mix also doesn't enjoy my kisses, he likes liking the side of my face and my ears but if I face towards him he also pulls back ! I can't even get him to take a treat from my mouth eheh

Thank you ! i also love the fact that he's chocolate coloured and he is the smartest ! almost like if he was part B part collie ! Distractions appart he learns really fast !

Eheh people love Neymar aswell especially kids ! He usually runs like that when he's just playing just like a horse trotting but yeah even when hes smelling the grass or just plain cold he will get a paw up a be on three legs and he looks like a flamingo xD

Thanks ! He's the happiest dog I've met or had ! We really do have a tight bond, I've always trained him with positive reinforcement and I clicker trained him into doing pretty much everything he knows but yeah it is quite hard and different from training other dogs because he's always looking for something to do on his own and you can tell by at least one of the wall videos that he tries to wonder off.. And about the bed thing, that bed used to belong to our cats ! I have different one wich is bigger and a few more places for him to sleep but he chose that bed, wherever i put the bed he tried to sleep there so i just gave up and its his bed now lol.. if you notice the red thing behind him is a coca-cola bean bag wich is like 6 times his size and thats like his bed but he almost never uses it unless i put 'his' bed, a rug or something over it so he can dig and make his nest…

I usually do it with my jacket on but this time i had only a thin sweater and he slipped of a bit and didn't make the jump, don't worry though he didn't hurt himself and didn't touch the wall with anything but his paws
