Found this site while looking for homephysio ideas for Miss Bliss.
We are happy to have a place to share our experiences as we don't do Facebook etc.
We live in Canada and I will post pictures of my little missy when I figure out how.
Happy Easter from B and Bliss

RE: Food
@mikesull Is your dog crated in the car.
A well secured crate is the safest way for a dog to travel.
Might give your dog a sense of security. -
RE: Two Heat cycles??? OR something more serious?
Miss Bliss came to us two years ago at two years old.
Was informed she wouldn't I into heat until september or October.
She went into heat in April and then again in October.
Perhaps this is just an occasional happening for two year olds or maybe
it's global warming! In year three she had 1heat in the fall nd then was spayed.Four weeks ago she escaped, was hit and broke her leg.
5 more weeks of crate living for Miss Bliss. -
RE: Brain Games for a Basenji?
Miss Bliss received a puzzle similar as a get well gift.
It has given her something to do during the long hours in the crate.
The toy was designed in Sweden and made in China of (dog smart wood)!?
I think it is a bamboo plastic. Anyway, it is removed from her crate once the goodies are gone. I don't trust anything that goes in a mouth, human or canine,
that comes from China. Fortunately, I have been able to get all her gear,
except for a harness I recently purchased that required altering.
Back to bones. A lot of those greasy bones come from China. Beware -
RE: A few pink areas plus paw licking: allergies?
Milk bones?
I know of a group of Basenjis that are totally allergic to them.
Miss Bliss will take one then spit it out so , no worries there.
For kibble she eats Purina Pro plan as recommended by the breeder.
When she first arrived I switched her(gradually) to Acana.
She became lethargic and her coat lost colour and sheen.
Was advised by a vet to get her off.
I did, and not gradually. Within a couple of weeks her energy was back and her coat was better. No more messing around with fancy food.
She gets her diet supplemented with raw meet and eggs. -
RE: The Art of Basenjis in the Rain
Miss Bliss finds water falling from the sky abhorrent.
When forced out for the (pre-pandemic) walk before work and it was raining,
she was very quick about her business. Well, at least the pee part.
Sometimes that we enough for her before she'd turn around and head for home.
We are now in week four since she was hit and broke her right front leg.
She went four days in a row twice without pooping until we went to the vets.
Not constipated, just stubborn. She is becoming a very good patient.
T
he last two days she has done her business easily and quickly.
She is escorted out when she says it is time.
You all know what I'm saying.
Back to the ladies amateur golf.
Stay safe out there

RE: Puppy Vaccines ?
We live in Ontario, Canada where in recent years deer ticks have also made their home. Miss Bliiss's breeder has advised me to vaccinate for lyme disease.
I personally know of three dogs I the neighborhood that have been diagnosed with lyme. Apparently it is easier to treat dogs then humans.
Is lyme disease an issue I the UK? -
RE: IBS in basenji
@branch I know of a lot of Basenjis that eat chicken.
Including Miss Bliss. However, as with humans, allergies are individual.Bliss loves raw chicken legs, that are no problem, but, cooked chicken gives her the runs.
Hope this helps.
