    @curlytails:

    Anubis's Mommy, you might want to note that the poster is in Indonesia…

    That said, just because Basenjis are rare there, it does not make it right to breed a sick puppy. It definitely will NOT help your chances of finding a healthy basenji on those 14,000 islands if your puppies are out there and unfixed, whether or not you sell them.

    Please, please reconsider. I'm not trying to say I know more than your vet, but I do have to question what your vet is thinking if she's telling you that it's okay to breed dogs with genetic defects?? (I guess that means she'll be able to count on you as a client for a long time!) Research the costs and the care of dealing with a dog with not just PRA or Fanconi, but any of the other genetic diseases that Basenjis are prone to, and ask yourself if you really want to be responsible for doing that to a breed you love.

    There was a post recently too about some of the difficulties that can happen in breeding... It's very useful information.

    okay i will call the vet and discuss about spaying them as soon as possible before she get pregnant.

    last night i talked to the vet and she said it's okay to have puppies from them but not to sell the puppies to eliminate PRA spread, and she will doing routine test later.
    also both sire and dam are passed fancony syndrom test
    it's hard to find basenji here, people doesn't like to pet basenji as they said that basenji is hard to train. but we really love their nature and temperament.
    if i adopt other young basenji, i think there is no guarantee the basenji are pass healthy test.

    @nomrbddgs:

    For potty training, it will be back to basics. Don't expect this to happen overnight. These dogs are older and sound like they were crate dogs, so they may never keep their crate clean. You will have to take them out to potty after every meal, every play time, even every hour if you find they are not eliminating enough. I would probably keep them in one area, and as they keep that area clean, you can expand their living area. I'm sure other people on here have more experience than I with older dogs.

    how about Hachi, the poor blind one?

    @nomrbddgs:

    Welcome! What are your basenji's names and what kind of help do you need? There is a lot of info on the forum.

    my basenjis' name are Chico (2.5 years old male), Hachi (2.5 years old Female) and Momo (7 months y.o female). this is my first time owning dogs it's about a week ago, first i need some advices about potty training

    @curlytails:

    Welcome! Always interesting to have new members from so far away. Do you have pictures of your B's you can share? Are they common in Indonesia?

    @Patty:

    Welcome to the Forum from the UK. Where are your Basenjis from?

    Just let us know exactly what advice you need - there's bound to be plenty of good advice here.

    they are 4th generation from africa, and 3rd generation from UK, 2nd generation from Austria, and grandparents are from Jakarta (based on their sertificate). and now i live in Surabaya

    previous owner said they are always live in crate and leash, and after they arrived here, apparently they're on poor condition. They got scabies and Hachi is blind. hopefully (and i believe) by joining this forum i can find any tricks or advices on how to train them because it seems that they never been trained before, at all.
