Seems the modern versions all have a rubber palm with with protruding nibs for removing loose hair, but lack the chamois for polishing. Can't seem to find a Chamois Hound Glove anywhere. After googling them, the search returned returned links to other dog forums that discussed them as well. Like here, people seem to know what they are, but no one knows where to get one. If you have one take care of it. Its seems you are in possession of a unicorn. :unicorn_face:

@Ann: Hi. She was on Deramaxx. We haven't tried a pain med like Tramadol yet. She gets a daily dose of hypoallergenic Joint Max with glucosamine/chondroitin/MSM. I'll have to check into HA and Ester C. I'll also check into Metacam. Thanks. Hello Ann, I have tried various medications for one of my older dogs. I can tell you hands down that Tramadol works. My vet was trying very hard to get a solution for my dogs pain, so we kept trialing different things. I did research on Tramadol before I opted for it (http://www.anydogrescue.org/tramadol-for-dogs/ is a good place for research). So, I went to the Vet, she agreed we should give it a try… and it works! As you and I both know, every dog is different...but it worked for mine, so give it a try.

Hi, my 7yr male is having similar problems. What happened with yours? After routine blood work to prep for teeth cleaning, hehas 900 level for ALT as well as high levels for ALK, Globulin, and Total Protein. We did an ultrasound as recommended by vet, which did not find anything abnormal in terms of enlarged liver or masses. Vet has suggested to start him on Denamarin, water soluble Vitamin E, and omega fatty acids. Then to test blood again in 1-2 months. Vet says to still go ahead with the teeth cleaning since liver issues can also be a result of teeth issues.

Swimming was my first thought as well. I also recalled a post from WilysMom when Wily was going through therapy to regain leg strength and make Wily use all his legs equally, and she was advised to walk Wily in sand. (Wilys accident and injuries were totally different but it made sense to me. Walk in a medium that keeps the dog a little off balance so all legs are used, and one is not favored.) You could also try using glucosamine treats once a day or so as a preventative.

@Ann: Thanks for the offer, Dan. I don't want to put you out with the mailing, but thanks for your generosity. Sorry to hear about Nika, but glad to learn about the product. I checked the Chondro-Flex site and can see it's good stuff. At this point, we've put Noel's supplements on hold until she's completely itch free, then we'll reintroduce and try to pinpoint what might have been the trigger. I'm sure shellfish-free is the way to go. (I think my husband already ordered some online, both the canine and human formulas. We're in the same boat with Noel!) It's no problem at all Ann. It's a waste just sitting in my cabinet.

@Ann: Hi Dan. Thanks for your feedback. Noel will be 5 in November. (I don't know how she spent her first 4 years.) Our fence is 6' so other dogs can't get in…it's her reaction to them that could cause problems. I'm sort of a hyper worrier since Noel has a weak front leg. It was badly broken in December and, when there's squirrel/dog activity around the yard or in the alley behind us, she forgets about her leg and goes into a full run and jump mode. It's great to see her fly over our 2' stone ledge and run the periphery of yard like a guard dog or chase a squirrel back to its tree, but if left outside alone all day there's the potential that she'll overdo it and tire out her leg to the point of pain. I know I'm sounding over-protective...The vet recommends plenty of exercise but in small doses to avoid the fatigue thing. (I'll be posting some queries soon in relation to this!) OK Ann, now I see your dilemma here. This is a tuff one keeping a Basenji still or low activity especially when you're not there. My first two had no issues with the back yard. But Gossy, being the princess chick that she is, can't be bothered with pooping in her yard and insisted on walks. I didn't catch on until recently and now I'm making a big effort to train her to the back yard at least for the morning (it's getting too dark to go for walks before work). A lot of patience on my part and special treats just for pooping are beginnning to show results. This morning I tried the match trick someone mentioned the other day and within about 10 minutes she pooped - yay! (I can't believe I'm excited about dog poop :D:D)
