Fence fighting & redirected aggression
My 7 yr. old B, Rocket, is a fence fighter. At home with the 2 shih tzu's next door he will race up and down the fence, hair raised, and attack the fence. If my female, Rumor, is helping, he will turn and snark at her too. At daycare, he bit one of the helpers when they were bringing a dog in. It is always when he is at the fenceline or on a leash that this occurs. What do I do when this happens?

RE: B's in doggie daycare?
Fortunately, several of the daycare staff are clients at our vet clinic. I questioned them at great length, I'm sure they thought I was just another "dog" mom!!! Boy did they find out I was telling the truth about b's! But the absolutely love Rocket & Rumor, think they are soooo interesting. They are indoor almost all day, right behind the check in, so they can keep an eye on them. They found that Rocket & Rumor did great with the big dogs, not so well with small dogs. They picked on the small dogs!!! I also occasionally find small scratches on them, but that is to be expected when dogs play. The staff takes great care to assess new dogs and Rocket & Rumor's attitude towards them. I highly recommend daycare if you are lucky enough to find a good one. I work such long hours now that I feel guilty leaving them at home.

RE: B's in doggie daycare?
Rocket & Rumor used a golden retriever as a bed, he thought they were his friends. They only used him for his hair!!!! Will have to get a pic to show ya'll of them both curled up on this big golden, sound asleep!

Adventures in B petsitting!
My petsitter was staying over a few weeks ago while we were out of town. She had bought a new hairpiece a few days before coming to stay at our house. A cute ponytail it was too! She called our first day out and reported that while setting it on a bathroom counter to shower, she returned to find Rocket & Rumor cavorting in the den with the ponytail between them!!! When she retrieved the poor, now shabby, ponytail and put it back on, Miss Rumor came over the back of the sofa and snapped it off her head!!! My B's didn't realize before that human hair actually came off and what fun it was!!! Needless to say, next time she sits for us she will come sans ponytail!!!!

B's in doggie daycare?
Any B's in doggie daycare? My 2 go everyday, as I work for a vet and am there for very long hours. Rocket & Rumor love going, they barely look over their shoulder as I drop them off! I get daily reports on Lucifer and Satan as they are called by their daycare nannies. They are the first to start trouble, if that surprises anyone! Never having b's at their daycare before, Rocket & Rumor are now their favorites as they are NEVER boring. Anyone else have any daycare stories?

Help with bedding material!
I have a 2 yr. old female b who is in emergency surgery as we speak, having a large section of towel removed from her intestines. Her and my 7 yr. old male b have gone through multiple bedding material since they have both been pups. I must have gone through at least 10 beds, I replace the towels every week or two. Please give me some ideas of what I can use in the crates as bedding. If I use nothing at all in the crates, they will not sit or lay down all day! I would appreciate any help ya'll can give me.

RE: Heartworm Medication
My guys are on Sentinel, we live in a suburb outside of Houston, so they are on it all year round. Lots of mosquitos here most of the year! Never had a problem with it and no fleas either.

RE: Fibrosarcoma
Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. We took Rocket to the oncologist yesterday. He said that since it was caught so soon and was so small and we got good margins on the surgery that we should watch it for the next year. Do a weekly check from head to toe, he knows how careful we are about our dogs! Then if it does recur, we will do radiation. We were sooooo relieved to hear the good news!!!! He knows that between me and my vet we will be closely monitoring the situation.

RE: Fibrosarcoma
Jill,
Rockets' tumor was attached to the fascia, the connecting tissue surrounding the muscle in his shoulder. The tumor was quite small, I just found it 2 weeks ago. Am very worried because what I read is that is has a high incidence of returning. When my vet excised it, she said it didn't appear to be attached to muscle yet, though she did remove a small amount of muscle to get good margins. Will keep you informed as I find out more. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.

RE: Fibrosarcoma
Thanks Jill for your prayers. The vet got good margins and the tumor was small and not yet attached to the muscle, it came out easily. We will make an appt. for next week with the specialist. Did Rocky had radiation or other treatment after diagnosis?

Fibrosarcoma
My 5 1/2 year old B had a lump removed on Tuesday. Histopath report came back yesterday, it is fibrosarcoma. Am still in shock and denial. Anyone here have any experience with this type of cancer in a B? Growth was on his left shoulder, came up very quickly.

RE: How Pathetic is THIS?
I think I would have to go with Boss, as my 2 B's always seem to try to become!

RE: If you were going to add another dog….
I would definitely get another B, but also not a puppy! Rumor is 12 weeks now and I feel about 100!!!! But she makes me laugh no matter what!
