Well we are still in the process of trying to get simba back to tad. I don't have the time or money right now to make the 5 1/2 hour trip. He had a friend that would do it but i can't afford to pay her what she was asking. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Just wanted to let everyone know that Tad is going to take simba.
He's going to evaluate his behavior and find him the right home! I will be very sad to see him go but know its whats best for him! Thanks for all your help and i will keep you updated on simba!

No he hasn't touched base on how simba is doing, he just reccommended working with him and taking him to obedience classes. He said give it time. we took him to obedience classes, i have tried working with him and he just keeps getting worse. We don't have the funds to higher a behaviorist, especially with a new baby. I am afraid one of these days he is going to really hurt someone. then who knows what will happen to him, i would hate to have to put him down for injuring someone.

I told Tad about his problems when they started a couple years ago. But have not talked to him lately. I am going to send him and email right now and let him know the situation. I thank all of you for your input on this, and will keep you updated on simba and our situation. thanks!

I agree with everything all you are saying! I agree that he would be better in a kid free home. Yes, i have been dealing with this for a couple years now and its just getting worse. I dont want or need any one getting seriously hurt by simba. I know that it will be hard to find him the right home and it will be hard to let him go, since i have had him since he was a small pup.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to go about finding him the right home?

i have had him checked and there is nothing wrong with him.

Just today a few hours ago my sister was here with my nephew and all he did was walk by simba and he bit him on the Butt!! My nephew was ok just got a scrape and bruis.

I have posted here before about my b and his behavioral issues. But they have been getting worse. If anyone comes over we have to put him away where he cant get to anyone. He tries to bite everyone, he's bitten my daughter (3yrs) on the arm and face, a countless number of times. nothing real serious but thats not the point. he's bitten relatives and friends. just recently he bit my nephew and my brother-in-law. i am at my witts end with him. we now have a new baby (2months) and i dont know what i am going to do with this dog. I am afraid i might have to find him a new home without kids and with someone who can handle his issuses. Does any one have any advice about this!:(

Simba is 5yrs old, its a rather new thing. Like within the past year. I go out with him and i know that he is going potty when he goes out. We have always had other dogs with him and now he is the only dog. Do you think that could possibly be the issue?

My basenji simba has been peeing in his crate when we leave. It all starts before we even put him in his crate. I always make sure to let him outside to do his buisness before we leave. then when i let him back in and we go in the room where his crate is to put him in, he will start to get anxious and run circles and start to whine. When i get him in his crate sometimes he will pee right away and other times he dosent do it until we are gone. Does anyone else have this problem or know any solutions.

He did AWSOME. He listened to me and he didnt even try to go after the other dogs. We are in the beginners class so its full of younger dogs and puppies, they were all jumping around and barking. Simba would sit in front of me and look at the other dogs being crazy and then look at me like "mom what are we doing here" :). There was acctually another lady there with a 5 month old basenji who live not to far from me. Which is crazy because we live in a very small town and i have never seen any othere B's around here.

I start obedience class tonight with my going on 5yr old b simba. He has never had any formal obedience training, only conformation training. And these classes are very much needed. So wish me luck, i hope he does good, and dosent try to go after any of the other dogs. :o

My b Simba is about 5 years old, about a year and a half ago we got him neutered. Before he was neutered he was fine with everyone. But after we got him neutered he began to attack people. He dosen't do it when people come in the house, he only does it when they go to leave, or if they are in the house and make a sudden movement (ex. walking across the room, standing up)

He has bit my husbands brothers, and his mom, and some of my husbands friends that have come to the house. He has broken the skin on my husbands brother and torn holes in his pants. I have resorted to putting him in the bedroom when people come over. I am afraid he is really going to hurt someone, and we're going to have to get rid of him. This has only been going on for like a year and half and i have no idea why he does it. And its been getting worse, he will run around the house and start panting really hard if there is someone outside that he cant get to. But like i said when people come in the house he's fine, he'll let people pet him and he'll sit next to them but as soon as they move he attacks. Please if anyone has suggestions they are greatly appreciated, I have no idea what to do!

So we were going out of state today to have easter dinner with relatives. When i left this morning i put simba in his kennel. that was about noon. My husband got home from work about 6pm (he didnt go to dinner) and he called me and asked me if i had left simba out ( knowing that i never leave him out) i told him no. Some how he got his kennel door open and spent what i assume most of the day loose in the house. But i am soooooo Happy he didnt get into one thing, everything was just the way i left it. I was so surprised that he didnt tear stuff up. i at least thought he would have torn the garbage apart but no. i am so thankful i didnt come up to a torn apart house!:D

Yeah they must be litter mates.:) No i have never had any one say a young b looks like a chi. On the other hand i do have people ask me all the time if my 5yr old b is a Jack Russel! I dont think he looks anything like a jack russel.:)

What size crate/kennel do you use for your basenji's? I am looking to get a new plastic crate (Vari Kennel) for my B simba, and i'm just not sure what size i should get.:)

To Kiroja tell all of his cousin's he says hello!:) It would be great to get together some time. I am going to start some obedience classes with Simba next month. I would love to do lure coursing with him but i have no idea where to begin. If you have any info that could help i would greatly apprecitate it. And all your B's are beautiful!
