I have a Basenji book that advocates feeding your adult Basenji just once a a day to simulate the conditions they have adapted to over time. Mine is a long way from adulthood, but I thought I'd see if you had any thoughts on this.

Heeeeeere's Ruba!15 Feb 2008, 23:15Yeah, she has a "spot" on her right side, so the red doesn't go much down the leg. Her mother is an elegant dog, and a champion, so I think Ruba is gonna be a real looker.

Minor puppy growling15 Feb 2008, 18:51Thanks. That sounds pretty reasonable.
As far as play biting goes, should I be careful to always say, "no" when she does it, or will she grow out of it like other breeds?

Minor puppy growling15 Feb 2008, 18:19I have a new baby Basenji girl, Ruba, who is just about 9 weeks old. She's a real sweetheart, and overall not unlike other puppies I've been around. Occasionally she growls a bit when you try to pick her up. It's usually when she's really tired or engaged in doing something else. Also, the growling is by no means really nasty.
Is this common to the breed? What's the best remedy?
