  • Fda Update On Foods Recalled

just a heads up if you have not already heard about it
    ‎(09:00 PM):
Finally, the FDA has issued a ban on ALL vegetable proteins from China. They also admit that the official number of pet deaths has climbed to 4150. No doubt this will go up, but at least they have adjusted it from the number 16 that they were stubbonly clinging to. The important alert is a bit frightening in that even now the FDA can not guess at the scope of the contamination problem.

Apologies if posting the wrong place but I am trying to give the heads up as many places as I can.

Not having a basenji I tend to lurk here, but do enjoy reading boards.

  • Foot sensitivity and nail trimming

    @lvoss:

Using clicker training you can train him to scratch a board with sandpaper attached so that he does his own nails. I have not tried it with my dogs but my obedience instructor has and it does work.

    What a super idea.
A friend has a chihuahua that was also flipping out when it came toes to clippers. She was always skittish to clip nails (the friend) and so her chi would get such LONGGGGGG nails and then where she went would clip short irregardless of the quick.
We finally found someone to use a dremel and WHAT A DIFFERENCE.
No more screaming or yelping. that was BEFORE THE nails were cut

  • Question of ID

Hi all I have been fairly silent reading as I joined mostly to learn.
Years ago a friend made me a Picture to use in a game I play, called ShowDog. Its based for showing and breeding dogs, I chose Basenji as my main breed.

I do not know where she got the pictures for it, and as it was years ago she doesnt remember either, I respectfully decided to post in hopes that they can be identified and maybe the breeder if from a breeder, would permit me to use it as my signiture pic.
My "Kennel" name is Guiding Senjis.

Here is the picture in question.
Thank you for any help you can give.

I just joined a day ago after falling across this board so to speak, by accident while looking something up.

I do not have a Basenji and never have, matter of fact with APT "no pets allowed" have never had a dog at all, but throughout growing up and now as an adult I have had magnetic connections shall we say?;) with neighboring dogs ' obeying' me more then their owners, perhaps as my pleasure comes from observing them as they naturally behave in nature.
My preference and beleif in training is that its better to learn how a particular dog learns and go from there. If not fun for them and for me, whats the point?

I have been enchanted by the Basenji breed for years, I know from the mid to late 70s when a local paper had a profile on the breed. Then when I met my first ones at a vet I worked at…. love.

I am not sure if they would be the right breed for me, from their idiosyncrasies shall we say? But they do facinate me. I play an online game based on breeding and showing and chose the Basenji as my breed of choice...

I do have a cat, have had cats for years, since 74, despite a variety of no pet rules, now having a condo I have more freedom.

I do have a variety of pups in my life, ranging from almost 2 yrs old, to 16 years, as well as my almost 12 yr old kitty Missy
She is inside only and hides when my sisters Cavalier comes over.
