I'm not sure if you found a male, but BRAT has two males available in Ontario.

Thanks Jennifer,
I am not sure where Manchester is, but Michigan appears to be the best bet.

Anything near Windsor Ontario?
My 11 month old basenji Luke has become fascinated with squirrels over the last 4 weeks. He sees them when he looks out of the front window and goes crazy. He even broke a retractable leash meant for a 77lbs dog when he saw one. Thankfully it was at 11am (the quietest time on our quiet street)
I am thinking that he would enjoy Lure Coursing. Does anyone know of a place near Windsor Ontario where he can practice? I don't want to enter him in any events unless I know he actually likes it.
I looked at the CKC site and AKC sites and the links do not really tell me where to find a practice site.

RE: Peeing in the crate!
My dog peed in his crate last night for the first time. I remember being told that he would forget his toilet trainning when he started to teethe. Anyone else experience this?

RE: New Basenji puupy owner in IL
Welcome to the group. Can't wait to see pictures. I understand how you can be hesitant. I also understand how easy it is to fall in love with your new basenji pup. My puppy started puppy class too (very difficult for me, but very fun for my basenji).

RE: Puppy class fun
I took Luke to his first puppy class tonight, and WOW. He would not listen to me at all. He was more concerned with what the other dogs were doing than what we were supposed to be doing. What kind of treats did you guys use when trainning your B's?

RE: Hello from Canada
Is he a Mankia/Twinvue pup? He looks familiar.
Nope. We looked into getting a Mankia pup. He is part HCrest and part Select. We got him from HersheyCrest Kennels.

RE: Hello from Canada
It snowed last night and he doesn't really like the snow. I am hoping to get some pictures of him playing in the snow.

RE: Hello from Canada
Thanks for the advice/warnings.
We did complete an application for BRAT and I contacted a few breeders in the area. I know it may be awhile before we get one of our own, but it will be worth the wait.

Hello from Canada
Hi everybody,
We have been lurking on this site for the last few days, reading stories and learning a lot.
We are two thirty-somethings who live in Ontario, Canada and would love to adopt a basenji.
My partner has had a dog his entire life but has been sans pet for several years now. Growing up I was only allowed to have pet fish (my brother is allergic to dogs/cats/dust/nuts/everything).
I agreed that our pet would be a dog, as long as I could pick the breed. Since I am a planner I read up on a million and one dogs (too many to mention). Although they have a reputation of being mischievous, the basenji was my favourite. Winning qualities were looks (it is so cute), size, shedding characteristics, and the yoddel. I also like the fact that it is somewhat rare (too rare, as I am having difficulty obtainning one).
I will continue reading your posts as they provide so much insight.
Bernice (and sometimes Cory)
