Cat help needed

Off Topic
  • HI. We recently had tragedy when we lost a kitten. He was about 5 months old, a farm cat from a neighbor. We found him Sun. unable to move one rear leg, this gradually progessed to his other rear leg, and eventually was completely paralysed and died before we could get him to a vet on Mon. Does anyone have any idea what was wrong with him so we can prevent this ever again!? Thanks for any advice.

  • IM so sorry for your loss … it almost sounds like feline leukemia or feline aids... we had 2 litter mates die from it... And the symtoms you describe sound all to familar ... You might contact your vet and ask questions... If you have other cats, this is a highly contagious desease.

Debra :) thank you for positive thoughts :) And yes here in canada all we get are federal loans and provincial loans , it still only covered the cost of my tuition which is something And we did sell the car to help with a few things , and here in canada people either go back to there country or apply from within the country but they must always have a valid status , visitor visa , work permit , student etc .. :) if we're lucky by September we will have some news from Canada immigration :) that he is eligible for a open work permit :) My dad is doing better now , he went in for a check up with the specialist and yes the tumor was cancerous so he will have to go back in 3 months again to get checked out , and etc so keep track of things :) I can't wait to finish school and get a job - and even start back again with horses -ha probably end up taking a a equine sciences diploma program online afterwards , And yes I worked at the track some things they do are horrible , others are great and take amazing care of them it's a hit and miss !

One of our most special cats (who is now over the Rainbow Bridge) was a black and white feral female we wound up having for 15 years. We had been feeding Miss Mew and her siblings for about a month. One day, we decided to catch all of them. Miss Mew was the first we caught. She had an eye infection (her eye was bulging) and I used the lack of her peripheral vision to grab her. The others were clever, but we eventually coaxed them into our condo with tuna. One of the four cats (the only male) was sickly. We took him to our vet, and after some testing, found out he had Feline Leukemia. Sadly, the best decision was to euthanize him. We were able to find homes for the other 2 girls, but we could just tell Miss Mew was special. About 4 years later, Miss Mew became a surrogate mom to my incredbly special cat Barney, who passed over the Rainbow Bridge last September 25, interestingly enough the same day as Kipawa was born! We now believe that Kipawa was heaven sent to us by Barney. The cosmos works in strange and wonderful ways. As the saying goes, "you get what you need". Any animal we have ever had has been what we have needed. And it all started with a feral cat named Miss Mew. Hugs to Miss Mew, who is now Barney's mom once again.

JYS, They only get wet food occasionally. I want to try to add the canned pumpkin to their diet but I keep forgetting to pick it up when I am at the grocery store!
