Well, we visited the Vet yesterday and when we mentioned getting a second Basenji for her to play with, his reaction was something along the lines of "Doh, of course that'll fix most of your problems." So it's definite, Penny is getting a sister. lol

Penny, the Basenji Houdini
We came home to find out that Penny, our 1 year old Red/White not only figured out how to open her crate, but also disassemble it!
It's a heavy-duty Kong crate, so she would have had to pull on some latches while pushing on other things, then while those things are pushed out, pull on other things. It's pretty complex for us (her humans) to take apart. The fact that she did it is blowing us away. We can't even begin to figure out how she did it, there are teeth marks on parts of the crate she shouldn't have even been able to reach. How does that even happen?!
We came home expecting to find her asleep in her crate, and she's asleep on the bed, with the whole side of the crate wide open.
My wife and I joke that we're in an Arms Race with her, trying to outsmart her, but tonight we lost the battle…

It's a Kong Crate, she would have had to figure out how to push latches, while pulling on other latches, while simultaneously pushing and pulling on the sides of the crate itself. We, her humans have enough trouble disassembling it ourselves when it's time to move it. …and it was definitely set up correctly, it hasn't been disassembled for months.

Looking for a Red/White Female in Forida
Hello, my wife and I are looking for a Red/White female in or near Florida. We'd be willing to travel up to 7 hours away (14 hours round trip) to meet with a breeder. We are certain we want it to be a puppy, not a young adult.
We live in an apartment, but can and will play with a young puppy inside and outside. In fact, I'm currently planning on taking off of work every other day for the first couple months of having a new puppy so I can train it and play with it as much as it deserves.
We currently have a Red/white female (named Misty) that is 14 years old and has been with me that entire time. Even though she is very energetic and playful, she has started showing tumors. We've been taking her to the vet every couple of weeks and she seems to be doing well for now, but neither my wife or I could imagine our lives without a Basenji in it. We'd like to find a puppy that we can raise alongside our Misty to help the puppy become socialized to other dogs.
We have tried looking for a good breeder on our own for the last few months, but have run into constant setbacks. The breeders on the Basenji club's Breeding list for Florida and Georgia have either not responded to our e-mails or have responded saying they won't be breeding this year. We have tried looking at Breeders through online classifieds but they do not seem to be anything more than puppy machines, churning out a multitude of different breed's puppies. We don't want that, and we're not confident we can trust having a Basenji shipped to us.
To put it simply, we need help finding a Breeder here in Florida we can meet with.
Here is a picture of Misty (our 14 yr old) that was taken about 2 months ago.
