BRAT decided not to take them because of their age, lack of fosters and lack of adoptions.

RE: 3 TN Basenjis
I dont but the rescue that I got my B from does. I am re-posting it for them. Their e-mail is rebecca.sloan@sbcglobal.net. They would have liked to take them in but they are full. I really would have liked to take them in myself but I work full-time and im not sure that dogs those age should be left alone. I also have a 2.5 year old B girl and not sure if they would want to play all the time. Please help these poor puppies out if you can! I cant but thats why I am re-posting it. They are talking about putting them down if they dont find a home and there is no reason why they should be put down if they are healthy!
Thank you so much!

3 TN Basenjis
I adopted my B from Americas Basenji Rescue. I got a message from them yesterday of a lady in TN who is very ill and would like to place her 3 13 year old Basenjis. I would take them but I am not sure that mine would get along with them and I also work full time, so I am afraid that I could not give them the attention they need. The lady is willing to pay their plane fair anywhere just to make sure that they have a good home. If you or anyone you know may be interested, please e-mail me at mecarr05@gmail.com.
Thank you and god bless.

RE: Upset Belly
Urbi and I went to the vets last night. It was a zoo! The vet did a fecal test and that came back ok so we think it might be the food. She gave me flax to put in her food and also put her on Prescription Diet W/D. We went on a walk late last night and shes already improving! She was such a star at the vets office too! We were there for a reallllly long time and she was soo good. Shes not that great with other dogs but we played with a few. I tried to get her to go on walks around the clinic but she just wanted to go inside and get all the attention. She was the talk of the waiting room! Everyone there petted her and told her how pretty she was. I am glad that it was a good experience for her! Thanks for your concern! I just want my Urbi to get back to her cute normal self!

RE: Upset Belly
She seems to be doing better. She was asleep when I came home. I will see how she is tonight, when I can hang out with her a little more. Thanks for all your help! Urbi says thank you too!

RE: Adams Plus
I have heard (hearsay) that the ticks are starting to get immune to Frontline. I have also heard that they will bite but once they do they are killed from the Frontline on the dog. I am not sure. I was told to use Adams on her so that is all I have experience with. My family used Frontline on our 2 vizslas and jack russell and I remember them occasionally getting ticks on them.

RE: Upset Belly
I got her from the American Basenji Rescue. I have e-mail Rebecca. I am not sure of her breeder. She is a year and a half. She did this last time when we weened her from the stuff that they were giving her. I am hoping that it is a freak incident and I am going to go home in about 1/2 an hour and check on her. If she is not feeling well the office I plan on taking her to is open 7-7 so I can take her tonight or early tomorrow morning. Thanks for all the advice!

RE: Upset Belly
She is on Interceptor. Im going to go home during my lunch and give her a Pepto chewable. She was in her normal playing mode last night so I will check to see how she is after work. I am hoping that she was just tired from walking/playing hard last night!

RE: Chipmunk play
Urbi, my female R&W Basenji has made a bunch of friends like that! She finds every frog in our neighborhood and she does the same thing. She nudges it and waits for it to jump and then reacts when it hits her little nose. One day we found a lazy frog and she tried to nudge it to move but it just wouldnt. Needless to say, we quickly lost interest in that frog friend!

RE: Upset Belly
I did a check online and it said that there was almost no risk. I have just had her a month so I have not taken her to the vet yet. I am planning on doing it soon though…
I weened her off of her previous food for about 2 weeks. She really likes the Wellness better than what I was feeding her. She does have some loose stools since I have totally weened her off of the previous food. It started yesterday (a couple days after eating only the wellness). She does not seem tired all the time but she did not want to go on her second walk this morning (I took her on one at about 7:30 for about 20 minutes and then her Daddy went to take her on one at about 10). and just laid around in her room (she has taken over the guest bedroom). I am just trying to make sure that she is ok. I think I am going to go home during my lunch (even though I live 30 minutes away) and see if she is doing ok. Maybe she will even get to come to work with her Mommy!

Upset Belly
I am a worried mommy! I have a female Basenji and I have just switched her food to Wellness from Eagles Pack. She has an upset belly and has been eating grass a lot. She is also tired more than usual. My dad said that he uses kay-o-pectate (sp?) on his coonhounds. Does that work with Basenji's? If so how much?
I am also worried because i have found 2 ticks on her. I use the Adams Plus spray and I am worried that she might have Lyme's Disease (I am kinda an overprotective Mommy but I just want her to have the best care). I have a friend that has it and its not fun. I am not sure if Lyme is popular in my area but I was thinking about getting her vaccinated for it. Should I be really worried or am I just over reacting??

Adams is so much cheaper than everything out there (that I have found!) I got the 32oz spray (which will last forever with 1 dog) for like $20 at the local feeders supply store. I have found it cheaper online (i think jefferspet.com). They have a full line of stuff. I found their frontline like stuff at target for like $14 for a 4 month supply of flea stuff. Thats like one month of frontline!

RE: Adams Plus
Wow! Thanks! I gave her a spray of it about a month ago but she has had several baths since then. She is a stinky Basenji and I left her at the sitters for a weekend and while there I think she rolled in something dead. I gave her another spray about a month after the first one. I will not give her another spray until at least Sept now. Thanks!

Adams Plus
I used Adam's Plus on my Basenji as soon as I got her rather than Frontline. She has since gotten a few baths (she likes to roll in dead things), with waterless shampoo or a moist bath towelette. I could not find it anywhere on the bottle if Adams Plus is bath safe. It says to do it every 3 months. I just want to make sure that she is protected. I found a tick on her ear a few days ago and almost flipped, which brings me to another question, should I get her vaccinated for Lyme's Disease? A human friend of mine has it and is having a really tough time with it. She is a indoor dog but I take her on about 4 or 5 walks a day for a total of about 2-3 hours. Just wondering if it goes well with the breed or if I am just being overprotective?

Anyone in Louisville, KY?
Hello!
I have just adopted a wonderful 15 month old Basenji R&W female. She does not quite understand domestic dogs and she is an only only at my house. I was wondering if there was anyone out there, close to the Louisville area, that would like to set up a play date to let Basenji's be Basenji's?:D
Thanks!
